Maybe it has something to do with how reliable our bikes are. There are very minimal posts about problems. On gas bike forums, there would be all kinds of threads titled like "My top end is making a weird noise" or "which exhaust should i waste money on" or "which clutch should i get?" or "What premix ratio do you run?" or "race gas vs pump gas".

That said, in my opinion, the picture and video sections of this forum are FAR TOO QUIET. CMON PEOPLE. Show us the fun you are having!

I don’t normally post anything anywhere but I have been following AOF for quite a while now and really appreciate everyone here and all the content and support that gave me the confidence to buy my MXR after Alta shut it’s doors (and that continues to entertain me and brings me so much joy). I’m not embarrassed to admit that I am often lurking here as I think this is a great group and I love seeing what is happening in the Alta world, but I am a bit embarrassed that I have not had much to contribute... I agree with TCMB371 that sometimes it gets too quiet around here in the picture and video sections and I sometimes find myself obsessively refreshing and waiting for a new post so I can get my next fix... Where has the EXR wandered today and why no pics?

So with that said, I picked up a Skydio 2 drone and am really impressed with it so far... Is there a way to share short video clips on AOF without first uploading them to YouTube or some other venue? It’s amazing how good the obstacle avoidance is on this thing and how well it tracks it’s subject! I’ve only flown it a handful of times and haven’t attempted to edit any videos yet but it is easy to get some clips on my phone and to capture screenshots from the video...

Nice shots! You’ve got the AOF addiction too it sounds. As far as I know you would have to upload video to YouTube or a similar video site before sharing on the forum, Phillip should be able to confirm that.

Might have to look into one of those drones myself! Thanks for sharing!

That's what I want!! Do have control of it while you're riding? By that I mean change the distance from you or the direction it shoots from while you're riding? I'm really curious if that drone can handle following you a heavy wooded single track.

Thanks Snydes - I’m definitely addicted to the Alta and to AOF - I highly recommend the Skydio 2 for anybody interested in a “follow me” drone or for anybody who just wants to get some nice action shots. I bought a Mavic Mini to play with while I was waiting for the Skydio 2 to release but really didn’t have any prior drone experience and am amazed how easy it is for a newbie to fly the Skydio and how nice some of the shots have come out. I’m going to figure out how to get a few clips up so I can share (hopefully over the long weekend)

I got the Sports package that came with the beacon. The beacon allows you to control it with very little user input and it will keep track of you via gps if it loses sight of you. You can also use the app on your phone independently or in conjunction with the beacon. There are some pretty cool videos on YouTube that show what people are getting away with around trees. Small branches, small power lines, and speed seem to be the Skydio 2’s Kryptonite... I have mostly kept it out in the open so far but had a couple of instances where I slowed down and it followed me through some sketchy spots. I’m probably not going to fly any single track until all the branches “leaf up.” I have seen where it does great if you keep it above the tree line but I’ve also seen a bunch of mishaps where it clips small branches and crashes or almost crashes...

You should upload the videos to YouTube or Vimeo first. Then just copy and paste a simple link in your post and the forum will take care of the rest.

YouTube and Video store, process, format, and stream the videos way better than this forum ever could. If you are concerned about the whole world seeing and commenting on your videos, set the privacy sitting to "Unlisted". Then only us will see these videos when you post the link here. Thanks!
