Try contacting the guys at Elcon Chargers. Pretty sure they supplied the standard chargers to Alta. They may be able to help.

Elcon may be able to provide the correct programming for the charger/charger itself but you also need to have the correct charging connector, which Alta had a another supplier provide.

Just want to add that the “rapid” charger does work on 120v in case that confusion has resurfaced.

Thanks snydes- I do have it running on 120v currently. I simply would like to preserve the rapid charger, it get's dusty if you leave it open all the time. My thought is that if I have a standard charger (without the fan unit) I can leave it out and simply do low and slow charging.

Gotcha. There were a lot of people that didn’t realize both chargers work on both voltages. The standard charger does still have a fan though, just FYI.

I bought an extra fast charger from Liquid Performance after Rashid pointed me to them. Thanks Rashid! I'll be mounting it in my motorcycle trailer which plugs into my generator for those days when riding 35 miles just isn't enough. I've gotten 45-50 miles with 10% left but that is all low speed trails. When I hammer the throttle in mode 2/3 and play on steep hills I get around 25 miles per charge. Then again, I am usually done riding from being worn out.

I'd like a smaller charger than the rapid charger. What was the size of the standard charger?

45-50 miles on knobbies is the most i have seen so far, not bad! I was riding with a group of trials bikes and I think that I had the pace that could actually deliver the mythical 4 hours of singletrack riding i had read about.

About 1.4kw on 120Vac and 2.7kw on 240Vac. If you run the rapid charger on 120Vac it should only be about 1.4kw also since a standard 15A 120Vac outlet will only provide a max of 1.8kw so they limit the output to avoid throwing circuit breakers. You could use something like a Kil-A-Watt meter to determine exactly what the output is.

If you remove the top of the rapid charger cover you will see that there is a lot of extra room in the case, primarily for the cables I guess. If you're mounting it in your trailer, you could take it out of the case and save a lot of room and store the cables separately.

The standard charger is @ 16 x 5 x 8" tall. It's the only one I use. It takes up a small amount of space on the rear of a garage shelf, cord coiled on top ready to go, LED clearly visible.
