I went with Acerbis X-Factory's, took some grinding on the brackets but definitely worth the effort.

Can you expand on what small mods? The Acerbis are too hideous to run.

I use KTM aluminium wrap arounds. No issues at all installing them.

My Acerbis hand guards went on with no issue and with no modification’s. You say hideous, I say glorious!

The Husqvarna handguards probably don't need any modifications at all and should fit perfectly. In my case, however, they were previously fitted to a Yamaha YZ450F and came from there to the Stark. That's why I had to make a small modification to the screw length. But only because they were on the Yamaha before.

I think we should clarify that some of these "handguards" are not handguards, they are windguards. Absent a reinforced structure what are they for?

I'm not interested in pretty or light, I'm interested in saving my digits and levers.

The flag style handguards can guard your hands from briars and small branches, and as you stated: air!
I wouldn't trust them, but some folks are afraid of injuries that can happen in the rare case that your hand or arm gets tangled up in the full wrap style.

Not true mine are reinforced and mount from the bar end to the bar clamp? How is that any different from a bark buster?

KTM makes an add on bracket to make them closed and run from guard to handlebar for mounting. They’re thick heavy duty plastic, and very stout.

I see you like the steg pegs they do work well when riding hills its like cheating lol
