The plate has a 30° angle. The mirrors can be folded back if necessary, the view is excellent. I tried them downward, but I do not like it. I have several other bikes and I am used to upside mirrors.
Yeah you have to stick with whats most comfortable for you. I'd smash those mirrors off pretty quickly with the type of "traffic filtering" I run on my daily commute.
