Solid review 
I think an Electric 690 rival would be great. Varg with a double battery and some comfort options and a DC charger should weigh about the same as a 690.
Now that would be a dyke/canyon weapon without compromise.

It would weigh more than a 690. You would have to add ABS, a CCS2 receptacle for DC charge, and probably an onboard AC charger for when DC charge is not available. All that adds up. Just me venting now, but CCS2 was not designed with bikes in mind; it is huge and heavy.
Royal Enfield already has a number of these bikes, but they are not for sale. Kind of a shame, they are brilliant bikes IMO.

Eicher Motors, the owner of Royal Enfield, invested $50m in Stark Future. The later HIM-E models have a Varg drive train; this article (use the translation feature of your browser) speculates that there are two Varg battery packs assembled.
On a side note: the article mentions the e-motor weighs 9kg and produces 235 Nm of torque; likely the ~1'000 Nm 'at the Varg rear wheel' minus chain drive- and gearbox- ratio.

I have a 2019 690 SM - not much has changed since then. Great bike, but I don't think these are similar bikes, other than they both have dirt bike heritage and they both have street tires. The 690 is heavy, and although it is powerful for gas engines, it isn't very impressive compared to the Varg. But I have always viewed the 690 as more of a long haul bike, which the Varg can't do. Granted, the 690 can do city street duty too, but the Varg wins hands down in that category
