And in other thoughts... you mentioned in the vid that there were about 700 Redshifts sold retail. I know there is a thread about this specifically, but how good are your sources? I have heard 800-1200, but nothing difinitive. Maybe that “Honcho” guy knows.
Maybe not. Only the shadow knows.
I ride with Alta005 all the time. We are the two dudes on those electric motorcycles. We are rare, and getting rarer, at least in the short term.
Maybe I’ll bump that other thread.

I can only go by what I was told. If someone can produce a vin greater than 600 than I suppose that would prove there is more. I would like to think my source knows his stuff but nobody knows everything.

Not to disagree with you, but the problem with counting vin's is that the series was not continuous across models, and some models did not start at 001, for example my EXR is vin 103, but the series began with 099 as I understand it.

Understood. To clarify I can not confirm the amount of bikes. Just what I was told. I did mention in the video that there might be other bikes (up to 1k).

To say this again. EXR235 was the last EXR VIN struck at Alta Motors. The last MXR struck at Alta Motors was MXR550 (last legally known VIN that was struck in operation)

Maybe this is helpful. I went through the JSON and parsed it into a simple google sheet with counts:

Alta Redshift Vin Database

In addition to the aforementioned R&D and Race bike VINs there is another fairly rare event that does contribute to incrementing the VINs. The VINs were engraved onto the FBH early in the process of building a Redshift. The machine that performed the engraving ran on specialised software that controlled the issuance and printing of the VINs. There were occasions when there was a software issue, a defect in the mechanical process that does the engraving, or a material/forging/welding defect that was not discovered until after the VIN was engraved: any of which resulted in the FBH being scrapped. By design of the software system, at that point that VIN is dead. It can not be used again by that software, and by regulation that dead VIN can not be engraved onto a different FBH by a different process. Therefore an attempt to deduce the exact number of official production bikes solely on the last recorded VIN of each type is not going to be precise. I was only involved in a few of these instances. I know more occurred, and while I do not have first hand knowledge of the exact number, I know it was not large. More vague I could be if pressed. My point is: don't be too sure your assumptions.
