What's that nub?

Suppose there is a purpose, but can anyone tell me what the dangling rubber nub is for?

I use that nub everytime Im dirtin after seeing a video of myself on the track and the kickstand half way down landing jumps.

Just for general info... this retainer was not included with my MXR kickstand kit (it's not on the kit parts list either). If you want it, you may have to order it separately.
