So what happed with the E-clutches offered?

Are they really available and has anyone bought one and tried it in the real world?

I think the e-clutches themselves were not deemed as very useful, but I did see some positive comments about the traction control that came with them.

“Rare” Electric clutch company just sent me an e mail stating that their clutch design just passed their testing and is now going to be shipped…. When I get mine I will report back. You can find them on YouTube. Not cheap but we race extreme enduro and practice in really technical sections so we feel it would be an advantage. Our goal is Red Bull TKO electric race. We have been there several times and know what we are up against. Also kitting this bike out with a full set of Ohlins suspension.

Ok…it’s installed and working. Pretty cool…I am in key west Florida so I don’t have much crazy terrain to ride….i will understand far more in the spring when I am up in northern NY the Adirondack mountains for the summer. For now install was easy…the company is easy to contact and they are very helpful. They have an app that you install on your stark phone.
Install clutch…it connects to throttle then has a wire that goes where the throttle attached..so it’s in between. Install the app…then start playing with adjustments. I will try to show some pics and definitely will answer any questions I can…I like it….it makes this bike complete…now I just want to add ohlins forks and shock. I have them on a few of my other bikes and love them.

So let me recap:
• radial master cylinder for the rear brake: please contribute here
• dual caliper rear brake: please contribute here
• oversized front brake rotor
• super cool shiny chrome/violet/carbon fiber look with stuntpegs
• now you also have e-clutch, throttle response adjustment, flywheel effect and more
• you also want to add some fancy suspensions like the bike were not cool enough! :D

Please give us details about this when you test everything properly. Personally I won't install that clutch because it's not approved by Stark but I wish we could adjust throttle response and flywheel effect and I'm curious about the clutch and its settings.

Congrats on your ride.

Very curious to hear about the clutch. Well not really the clutch but all the rest like throttle smoothness, throttle response and especially flywheel effect that Stark promised but can't seem to deliver.

I didn't look very closely but the main issue with a clutch that sits between the e-throttle and VCU (effectively modifies the throttle signal going to the VCU) is that you cannot get it to act like a physical clutch. Two main issues:

1. To eliminate regen (engine braking) when throttle closed and clutch pulled in.
2. To simulate momentum of flywheel upon clutch release -- for example to have the bike in a relatively low power setting but still be able to use the clutch to loft the front end.

So the installation was pretty easy and I definitely was a bit worried about how the feel would be…the instructions are to remove any engine braking from the stark app…so the new way to achieve the same braking feel would now be achieved with the adjustment in the Rare app… so I have not really had time to really play with this setup….but the clutch default settings make it actually feel like a real hydraulic clutch…that was a present surprise. I was trying to set it up and the Rare app was super simple to adjust….i really want to adjust it to extremes to see what the parameters are. The issue was …the stark phone was having issues connecting….this is actually the only thing I really don’t appreciate about the bike…love everything else. I will try it more tomorrow with hopefully the stark app connected and try some more complex ride spots. Definitely an interesting adventure…so far it feels like a great purchase.
