2025 KTM Freeride E

660W for 5.5kWh is ok when you only want to use it once per day. Twice already means you have to arrange your life around technology - which is not acceptable.

🤔

8h * 50 % = 4h full day at work

Vive la France ✌️😁

I might have exaggerated a bit but to be honest they claim 20-80% (60%) in 4 to 5 hours. If the charger is current-limited, like the Varg's, 4 h on 220 V will turn into 8 h on 110 V for our American friends. Which coincidentally is also about half day of work over there. Ok you won !

I have the suspicion that Germany's among the only ones who're being honest at recording hours

Also, the figures are skewed because some multinationals stopped offering beer in vending machines, and employees now need to maintain their own fridges in the social rooms or below their desks.

I think they mis the devide between Holland and the Netherlands. The former spend the money and the latter work for it :ROFLMAO:

Although i have to say i'm a tad below Dutch average😅

He's from France...
Don't forget that 1 hour lunchbreak incluided in those 4 hours in wich they ride to the brasserie to get a baguette and wine.
That only makes for 3 hrs of charging.
I take great offence at this comment, it is absolutely wrong.

You buy your daily baguette at one of the 33 000 boulangeries. At the brasserie you can get your jambon-beurre (baguette sandwich).

Official price for selected countries is available on KTM website.

2027 Freeride should be available from May 2026 and will set you back from 9 999 to 10 650€ in Europe (8999£ in the UK).

So KTM is merely asking about 1k less than for its KTM 250 SX-F (or 1750€ less than its KTM 450 SX-F)... for a 25 hp electric dirt bike.

That is the same price than a brand new Varg MX1.0, or 3k cheaper than the Varg EX.

Or to compare to electric dirt bikes with close power and range, it's 50% more expensive than a Surron Ultra Bee.

In the grand tradition of KTM Freeride E, this bike is being set up to fail.

Yep, and its really a shame. I was so ready to buy one, and was waiting for the second release. But that was disappointing when it released, with only a slightly larger battery. Then I got really excited about Alta, but it was so hard to try and get a hold of one where I'm at. Then we all know the rest of the story. Stark really moved the benchmark with a full power, full size bike. I want more of the competition to start to drive the specs up on these things.

That price isn't too bad to be fair.

It only has 1 real competitor in usecases and that is the Beta Xtrainer wich costs +- €9000 in the Netherlands. The Freeride has no price at us yet, but probably on the high end so €10.650. But €1650 is quite the gap. I would like to see it competing within the €500 category.

Comparing to the SX series isn't really fair as well since this is street legal. The EXC series are better comparison. The EXC 350F costs €13.999 and the EXC 300 €13.499 here in NL. That widens the gap.
Same goes for the leftover Stark 1.0's. Not streetlegal and technically old stock bikes. That's only a fair comparison if we see the 2 year old Freeride old-stock price.

10.595€ here in Spain on the web and on my local dealer too... i have a good relationship with one on the workers, i was debating with him and they couldn't even offer a taxes discount like Stark did on my EX because im in Canay Islands and the price should be lower because we dont have the same taxes percentaje as "Mainland Spain· ... My EX cost me 10.700€... no more to say

Ok Erwin, let's compare it to KTM 250 EXC-F 😋

Both road legal, about the same weight with full tank, Freeride E is about 15 hp and 1500€ less.

I don't think they compete for the same customers but that's interesting to see how KTM offer differs for ICE and electric. Their ICE bikes are relatively well priced compared to the competition. Their electric dirt bike is not. I don't think a 25 hp off-road bike will sell much at 10 k€, wether it's ICE or electric.

I'm just disappointed how little they have moved in the 12 years since they first released the freeride E-XC. If they had a better team developing it, then KTM might have positioned themselves well for the future. But instead we see what happened to KTM.

My previous 2014 six days 250 EXC is likely be the last KTM I'll have owned now that I've experienced what the Stark can do. I only wish there was more competition to push this tech further, faster.

From what i've heard from former employees working on the project the problem wasn't the engineers.
KTM management wanted industry and car standards implemented that never were meant to be applied to motorcycles.
That's a very good way to make costs explode, product development delay and deliver an underperforming bike.

I feel for those guys though. I work at an industrial company with a slow proces but with huge cashflows and profits. Everything is slow. Every step is looked at from a million angles and costs of every small change goes accompanied by huge amounts of money.
