Can you adjust the steering head angle and offset

you can change the steering head angle via lowering / raising the front and / or rear of the motorcycle. Such is why moving away from a 105mm rear sag setting to something in the neigborhood of 80mm to 90mm improves steering. Such does come at the expense of a small amount of drive under some...

    Rim Options, Triple Clamp Options?

Clamp configuration also plays a role. Guy's, I am simply attempting to assist. However, if you prefer, I can simply say nothing. No problem.

    Rim Options, Triple Clamp Options?

Depends on the offset of the KTM clamp that is being used. Alta clamp offset has a range of 18mm - 22mm. The 18mm offset with narrower clamps did indeed reduce the turning radius. Such is the reason behind the wide, one off, billet, adjustable clamps featured on the pictured Flat Tracker. This...

    Gearing for ST (Single Track)

FDR depends on the conditions, map selection, and ones objective. If traction is a concern, then a taller ratio (lower numeric ratio) will often be of advantage. If you have plenty of grip, and looking for maximum acceleration at lower speeds, then a shorter ratio (higher numeric ratio) will...

Information on the total number of Alta that were built?

It's not a guarantee. That said, they know the product and pretty much treated Alta crew as royalty. If you explain that you only recently acquired the motorcycle, it would really surprise me if they did not allow you to pay your five dollars and ride.

Information on the total number of Alta that were built?

Hollister will likely allow you to temporarily ride your Alta there minus a plate and / or green sticker. We did an awful lot of testing @ Hollister, even loaning bikes out to the rangers on duty. Same is true of Carnegie and Metcalf.

MXR Rear Shock v.1 vs. v.2

I can only speak regarding those that I have tested with, and that list is quite impressive. That said, suspension is very personal and and it is quite difficult to make everyone happy with a single setting. As you are likely aware, rear sag is a critical component, and unlike most other...

MXR Rear Shock v.1 vs. v.2

Please inspect the shock serial number as stated earlier "Some MXR's had softer valving than intended due to a miss by WP. Please see Phillip regarding details as we had this conversation by phone." Short of Josh Hill, most top level riders have been extremely happy with the MXR production...

How stiff can the EX get?

Early MX and EX models came equipped with 4CS front forks and a long reservoir rear shock. Later MXR models came equipped with AER forks and a short reservoir / reduced overall length rear shock and revised linkage. EXR vehicles came outfitted with XPLOR forks and a short reservoir / reduced...

    Rim Options, Triple Clamp Options?

The only drawback being that with the narrower triple clamps of the KTM your minimum turning radius will be increased as the clamps will hit the stops and / or chassis sooner.

How stiff can the EX get?

This is incorrect. The spring rate, valving and stroke are different between the two models.

    Rim Options, Triple Clamp Options?

The rear wheel / hub will directly interchange with that of a KTM. The front hub is roughly 18mm's wider than that of a KTM thus requiring specific spokes. A complete KTM front wheel can be used with proper spacers for both the wheel and the brake hanger. Hope this helps.

    Front Fender Slap

The Alta MX front fender is "nose down" a bit, and does have a tendency to slap, particularly when packed with mud. Shimming the fender via the rear mounting location will bring the nose up and reduce slapping.
