    What's the aux light for?

The port is under the seat, just aft of the charge port. It is a round connector if I remember correctly, so not the standard OBD port. For updates and diagnostics I believe you need the laptop that Alta provides to their dealers and possibly connectivity/access to the Alta server.

    Seat Cover Recommendations?

Seat Concepts has seat covers and foam kits for Altas. The also own a couple of MXRs for running in their backyard MX track from my understanding, or at least that is what I was told.

    Possible sources for battery repair?

@snydes if the bike is unusable, I would pull the pack apart like @Mark911 described in his post about disassembling the pack. Guess, and it is 100% a guess based on other posts, is that a cell or two have failed. Should be pretty easy to find the bad cells, just need to take a volt meter to...

    What's the aux light for?

The charger is controlled via CAN bus so probably safe to assume that the rest of the bike is also. I agree on the over engineered, but it is what we have. I can understand limiting current to the max of the DC to DC converter, but was pretty pissed of when I found out I was riding without a...

    What's the aux light for?

I do know the Alta 12 vdc circuits are sensitive to loads. I had to replace the tail light bulb that came with the bike, because the bike didn't like how the bulb "felt" and shut the circuit off. Bulb was good, worked fine if I started the bike with the head light in high beam setting, but as...

    What's the aux light for?

Anyone have any idea how much current or power this circuit will supply? I would love to be able to power a USB charging circuit.

    BAD NEWS

I would recommend waiting until clarity on the situation with Alta. If Alta goes under, which I really hope doesn't happen, someone will liquidate the assets. The assets will include parts, partly completed bikes, and completed bikes that hadn't been shipped yet. That is the time to pick up...

Our own Alta software/firmware team -- Join in

What would be nice to have is the software they use to tune/customize the factory bikes and the settings for the various maps they are currently using. With that we could make our own custom maps which would be nice. It would also be beneficial to look at the the code they are using on the...

You would also need the adapter that would go from the computer to the bike. It has at least a specialized plug for the bike and I believe CAN has a 120 Ω termination requirement. Nothing huge, but it is more than just the program.

How many miles/hours do you have on your ALTA

2315 miles/89.7 hrs. No issues except a sensitivity to the tail light bulb that caused the bike to turn it off. Bulb worked, but the bike would shut it off. Replaced the bulb with a new bulb and it worked good, go figure.

    BAD NEWS

Probably has to update the odometer so that the bike mileage is correct. Couldn't have you replacing the screen and then selling the bike as low mileage.

    BAD NEWS

Go fund me would be just a gift to Alta. Not sure most people here would be willing to give them what they need, I wouldn't. I thought I read somewhere that they have produced about 1300 bikes. If every owner gave $1,000 that would only be $1.3 mil and I am pretty sure they need a lot more...

EX In Desert South Of Boise

The future of Alta may be in question, but today was a beautiful day for a ride in the Boise foothills and the bike ran awesome. Bike has enough range for me to ride from my house, ,hit the trails for a while and return. Don't have to load, or unload, just ride so it is quick and easy. Love...

    BAD NEWS

We don't know that. Lets not assume the worst. The electric technology should last for a long time and as things break, people will figure out solutions, even if Alta does go under. Stay positive, and in the mean time, go out and enjoy the Alta on a ride.

    How Far Have You Gone?

Come on up, great riding, bring the electric or gas and we will make it happen. Would be cool to have two electrics out in the Boise foot hills. BTW the Boise fire department has an EX for rescue work in the foot hills.

POLL - Have you had problems that required support from Alta Motors?

Only problems i have had are the brass in plastic inserts striping out. Kind of sucks, and not sure what the long term solution is, but haven't kept me from riding. Turn the key on and go, awesome!

POLL - Would you keep your Redshift...

No reason to sell it, too much fun to ride, so keeping it until it dies and then it will have no value, so keep it forever. Maybe after it dies, i will convert it to electric, wait it already is electric so just have to figure out how to fix it. :)

    BAD NEWS

I think it is important to note that we haven't heard, or at least I haven't heard, any information on Alta declaring bankruptcy. No word on them declaring chapter 7 (gone) or chapter 11 (reorganization). All they have done is shut down operations, probably to conserve cash, while they try to...

Charger issue, 2017 Alta Redshit MX - help!

Depends on your definition of "serviceable". I did have to solder a new fuse in, there wasn't a fuse holder to just pop open and replace, but I was able to do it and it worked. No question if the bike and charger is under warranty, then that is the route to go. If the charger isn't working...

Charger issue, 2017 Alta Redshit MX - help!

Is the LED on the charger coming on? Looking at the front of the charger there is an LED light that initially will alternate between red and green and then transitions to green flashing. If the LED light is on then the charger is receiving power and the GFCI is good. If it is not on then it...
