These are the only rim locks I've ever had fail on me (plastic and metal sections separated, both front & rear). They come with really cool nuts and collars though, which I now use w/oversized Emgo locks on my Zero wheels. Maybe I just got some defective ones.

Re the MXR hp increase, I think Alta may have done what Zero did - move the current-limiting threshold up slightly higher in the motor's rpm range, requiring the greater peak current of the R battery. During riding this would only be noticeable at WOT near top speed, but should definitely show...
Not sure if this should be posted here, but anyway... I just finished changing out most of my MXR's plastic with plain white. I used a Cycra front fender I got at HVM (I'd use Acerbis 2141810002 instead), Acerbis 2401265413 fork guards, and the rest is Alta OEM stuff. In the past I've replaced...
Yes it is, at least according to the nameplate data. I'd hoped for 14A / 1,700W at 120V, which would still be under the 15A limit of many 120V house circuits - but maybe they wanted to avoid having old and/or GFCI breakers trip out when running near max current.

Here's some charger info I've pieced together using Alta web site info, @ VA calculations, and nameplate data (√) of the standard and fast chargers (I have both):
Alta 3300 Fast Charger: 12A√ (120V, 1,400W), 16A√ (240V, 3,800W)
3.0 / 1.5 hrs...
I don't know - I have almost no knowledge of the AER fork or its component parts, which prompted this thread. I just need a pair of white MXR fork guards that I can get quickly and will definitely fit, which so far I've been unable to do. Any ideas?

The fast charger works on both 120V and 240V. According to the nameplate info it doesn't charge any faster on 120V, which I found a bit disappointing.

Does anyone know if aftermarket fork guards are available for the MXR AER forks? The only bike I know for sure uses this fork is the '18 KTM Factory Edition 450 (KTM p/n 77701094100EBE for the pair) which doesn't seem to have much aftermarket support yet.

I'd say a couple/few bucks for a full Alta charge would be more than enough, but don't forget the 'goodwill factor' involved. Far better that the track owner sees providing power as a good (and possibly profitable) thing rather than just a financial-drain headache, often followed by no power at...
Cool ! ;) Yeah, I think the higher the coolant level the better, even if it means occasional overflow. If static conditions are a concern, imagine what's going on in there (circulation- and temp-wise) during actual riding.

Having lived through the Aermacchi & AMF periods, I think Harley and dirt bikes are kind of like oil and water... :)
Maybe most here have seen it already, but if not, check out one of the pre-Redshift models:

The thing is... unlike every liquid-cooled ICE bike I've seen, the Alta pump is up high and moves coolant primarily by suction rather than pressure. This setup increases the likelihood of coolant cavitation and foaming, which in turn can lead to poor heat transfer, boiling, etc. IMO it's...
Oded - in the United States, MC registration/insurance laws depend on the individual states, and vary a lot. In CT where I live, AFAIK electric motorcycles are still considered 'scooters' (< 49cc) and don't need to be registered at all (don't know about insurance).

Thanks to all for the help! I added @ 29ml of coolant with a 10ml syringe, after which the level was just visible down at the bend of the coolant passage (as per the manual). I then replaced the cap and ran the pump; unlike earlier, this time the frothing cavitation noise quickly changed to...
I loosened the drain plug (USA 3/8" hex, on the main bulkhead casting above the RH swingarm bearing area) and a few drops of green coolant came out, so there's at least some in there now. Can I just top it up, or do I really need the filling items above? When will I know when the filling...
