    Long Term Alta Ownership Considerations

The battery in my crystal ball is broken too. And the company that made it (Merlin Scrying Devices, Inc.) went out of business several hundred years ago (after a failed campaign of conquest in support of its patron, King Harley of Davidson, a.k.a "Harley the Hog" or "Harley the Questionable...

Glen Helen scramble 2/23 - new class added

This is kind of interesting. It was posted on the Sur-ron Owner’s Facebook page. They are adding an electric dirtbike class “kilowatt klass” for sur-ron, kuberg, cake, etc. Looks like Alta and KTM E-XC would race in a Modern Support class. If you are down in SoCal, you should check it out.

Dyno comparison Alta Vs two stroke and four stroke

That's true. If you overlaid pulls in all 5 or 6 gears of the ICE bike over the graph, I bet it would look a little more interesting, and probably paint a bit different picture. This is just a snapshot in one gear.

Dyno comparison Alta Vs two stroke and four stroke

If those fossil burners couldn't refuel in a couple minutes, it would be game over for sure. Very impressive comparisons.

Bike Ramps and other loading tips

These looked kind of cool, but you are limited to loading with the bike to your right only. Pretty good if you have a single bike, though. Looks like the steps would give you some good leverage. StepRamp.com | StepRamp Dirt Bike Ramp | Easiest Way to Load Your Motorcycle

Horse? Isn't that an internal combustion conveyance? Tell her those things are causing global warming, and she needs to switch to electric.

    Electric clutch

How about a thumb throttle? No winding and unwinding of the elbow. Just a few millimeters of thumb travel.

    Long Term Alta Ownership Considerations

I am sure that the next installment of Mad Max will confirm that many Altas survived the devastation and are still thriving in the post-apocalyptic world, long after mankind and Harley Davidson have sunk into chaos. While many survivors are fighting to the death over the last gallons of fossil...

Bike Ramps and other loading tips

Hey Guys, I posted most of this comment in another unrelated thread, but I'm curious about how others haul their Altas too. So, I'll post in this thread as well and expand a few items. Some folks have posted about their moto-van builds and strapless tie-downs and similar. Those are way...

    Electric clutch

I'll also echo how convenient it is to use bike-power to load the bike and move it around. I've turned quite a few heads at the riding area by simply walking my bike (almost) silently up a ridiculously steep ramp like it was nothing. Makes you look like a superhero sometimes. Hehehe. I used...

Want to buy Volunteer Firefighting wanting 2019 EXR or MXR

Any particular reason East Coast would be easier? Seems like West coast would be a straighter shot across the Pacific as far as shipping.

Rediscover this day: It's been 3 years!

At first I thought it was a toilet brush. I'm like, well, it's probably good for getting between the spokes and under the fenders... but the bike will tip over if you try to use the brush!

Just bought a 2018 SM A few questions

Somebody loan me their SM, and I will be glad to experiment. Should only take a couple weeks... months... ummm.... Shouldn't take more than a couple years. I have a soldering iron, some wire, and access to YouTube. What could possibly go wrong?

Just bought a 2018 SM A few questions

I think you were probably referring to this item on ebay. Performance Speed Chip Racing Torque Horsepower Power ECU Module for Alta Motors | eBay There is a Chinese company called Alta Motors (Buyang) that makes ATVs and such. It can get confused with the now defunct electric motorcycle...

    Electric clutch

Just speaking for myself here. But I specifically bought the Alta because it didn't have a clutch and it didn't have a shifter. I still consider myself a novice dirt rider, although I've ridden street for 30+ years. And frankly, the simplicity of the whole electric setup is what appealed...

    Storm Bee

Just add a quarantine button next to the Turbo button, and get the show back on the road! I am itching to see one of these dang things in real life. I am looking to get my son a bigger electric bike, as he is pretty much outgrowing the Sur-ron. Alta is still a bit too big and a bit too...

    Electric clutch

Perhaps you can describe exactly what the advantages/features you think an electronic (not physical) clutch would give you over the throttle only setup? Neutral coasting maybe? It wouldn’t really help keep the motor in its power band because there isn’t really one. It wouldn’t help you from...

Want to buy Does anyone know a Alta for sale

That's why they call it "Port"-land! Kinda on the wrong ocean for easy shipping, though. It's on the Pacific side of the US, not the Atlantic side. Longer trip to the Netherlands that way. But I'm sure it would get there eventually.
