    2021 Alta Rally/Race/Meetup (September 25-26)

When I was into cars, most of our national gatherings were in Indiana and Michigan. We tried to go as far west as St. Louis and Memphis, hoping to lure out the West coasters, but it seemed that to them anything farther than Vegas or Phoenix was too far away and required to take more than a whole...

Yamaha Europe is working on a full size e-MX bike!

I totally agree. But the thing is, the main technological and performance hurdle has been the battery -- its piece cost, weight, capacity, and thermal management. Once OEMs think they could bring these items into acceptable ranges, and once they are convinced that John Public is willing to pay...

Yamaha Europe is working on a full size e-MX bike!

Looks like the business situation is almost the same as with Honda and Mugen. The OEM supports a project that is run by a small independent company. If it succeeds and proves competitive, maybe they will then hire the folks who built it to build a real OEM electric dirt bike.

KTM is changing its tune about electric bikes (and MXA is playing along)

I hope it is fewer years than that. Ther SX-E 5 is a good bike for 8-10-year olds. Once they turn 13-15, they can already practice on full-sized bikes.

KTM is changing its tune about electric bikes (and MXA is playing along)

“We want kids to grow up with our electric bikes,” said KTM America President John Hinz during the KTM SX-E 5 intro. KTM and Husky plan to have a complete line of electric bikes for little Johnny to ride when he graduates from the SX-E 5 or Husky’s EE 5 version. KTM and Husqvarna owner Stefan...

My Alta may have ruined ICE bikes for me

After having bought the Alta, I sold all my recently purchased gas bikes. Then I bought a 2017 CRF450R because I liked the suspension that this bike once had. I didn't like the engine. Being unable to re-create the same suspension feel, I promptly sold it as well. I am not planning on buying...

    Question

This sometimes happens to me too on loamy tracks and in my backyard. This is why I must wear a baseball hat for protection, else they could get into my hair!

    Server issues

Hey guys! The server has been down, again, for the last four days. The migration that I originally planned got really botched. I will have to do something less drastic in the future, as the current uptime and tech support are still unacceptable. Thank you for your patience as we are getting...

Talk me into buying an Alta. Talk me out of buying an Alta.

I wish the bike could wash itself. Then there would be no maintenance at all for me. Has anyone invented an automatic bike wash yet? Hmm... If it really works, it would become very popular at motocross tracks.
