I totally agree. But the thing is, the main technological and performance hurdle has been the battery -- its piece cost, weight, capacity, and thermal management. Once OEMs think they could bring these items into acceptable ranges, and once they are convinced that John Public is willing to pay...

Looks like the business situation is almost the same as with Honda and Mugen. The OEM supports a project that is run by a small independent company. If it succeeds and proves competitive, maybe they will then hire the folks who built it to build a real OEM electric dirt bike.

I hope it is fewer years than that. Ther SX-E 5 is a good bike for 8-10-year olds. Once they turn 13-15, they can already practice on full-sized bikes.

After having bought the Alta, I sold all my recently purchased gas bikes. Then I bought a 2017 CRF450R because I liked the suspension that this bike once had. I didn't like the engine. Being unable to re-create the same suspension feel, I promptly sold it as well. I am not planning on buying...

This sometimes happens to me too on loamy tracks and in my backyard. This is why I must wear a baseball hat for protection, else they could get into my hair!
