I too removed the stock o-ring chain, way too much drag - the protaper is different - thin o-rings made out of a sort fiber rubber so minimal resistance- a real awesome product

Wanted to give a shout out to Bryan H. for helping us use the multi-tool today to upload latest firmware to an MXR - Bryan’s effort in getting the Multitool working and helping AOF members has resolved many problems so riders can get back to electric mayhem in Alta land

For me the only reason I use the buttons is total hours but IMO don’t really need any of the buttons - I think the robust case idea is excellent

I put this protaper pro series o-ring chain on - the o-rings are really thin and the chain also has very little friction as compared to other o-ring chains. The chain also has a very high tensile strength and forged pins so it doesn’t stretch much.

I have always dipped grips in unleaded gas then slip them on - it is less aggressive than contact cleaner - when it dries the grips adhere well - I also safety wire grips always

I found that I needed to do several oil changes to fully get rid of that sludge - I was also getting a lot of gear noise - after 4 or 5 oil changes the oil now stays clean and noise level is really low

I think the issue is the threads corrode a little overtime so when you go to remove a bolt it strips the brass inserts.

I went to Ace hardware and got a few different sizes - take the original bolt with you for reference - I might use them in a few other locations where strength is not needed

I stripped the brass inserts very quickly - for the top shroud bolt I now use an automotive plastic push in connector - that connection really doesn’t need a bolt as it snaps in place pretty good.

The bottom bled with syringe works really well and much faster - once you try it you will see.

I really like your concept - as good as the Alta is it cannot be modified or upgraded as technology progresses. Another diner bike that would make sense is the 2005 RMZ 250 - it has a steel perimeter frame so can be welded much easier than aluminum Keep us informed as you progress this build

Nice work - seems to demonstrate that OEM’s could build Ebola by tweaking existing designs - the battery seems to slide is the frame real nice. How does it perform Can you let us know the motor, controller etc that you used Great stuff and please send a few more pictures

I got this set up to work with the hand guard mounts It is a 10” wide 30 watt bar light off of ebay Good light actually - I had a Baja designs squadron light previously and this is comparable with better peripheral light

Definitely purchase the BRP chain slider - same model as KTM. Swapped mine from new, no problems in 1300 miles.

A lot less bond wires has to be a good thing when making a battery - less cells lowers the chance of something going wrong IMO - also these cells do not have a tab so will allow for more options to connect the cells together - I understand these cells will have better thermal dissipation...
