    Regen in different maps?!

@Oded @bluefxstc @snydes The original thread went haywire, so I moved the riding maps related posts here. Please click "Watch" at the top of this thread to get new post notifications. Also, PM me if you think I should have done this differently. Thx.

    Regen in different maps?!

I wish there was a way to tell the software/firmware version without going to a dealer. I too would like to know which software I have installed. @Judaslefourbe

Perhaps your bike had the Supermoto maps flashed by mistake?

So both Ty and Lyndon had dual foot/hand actuated rear brakes. Here is the screen snapshot at the 0:57 mark:

An Open Petition to Alta to let us create our own maps (and to modify Map 3)

Yes, I also liked Map 3 on hardpack tracks. But if you gear the bike up it becomes not as attractive. Too much of a drop from Map 4. Likewise, if you do not gear up the bike, Map 4 is too big of a step-up in power from Map 3.

An Open Petition to Alta to let us create our own maps (and to modify Map 3)

Dear Alta Motors! Map 3 is weird and not very usable. It is jerkier than Map 2 but not any more powerful than Map 2 at higher speeds. Additionally, it is too far away from Map 4. Please make Map 3 to be exactly in between Map 2 and Map 4! Racers, myself included, have been fiddling with the...

    Holy 14T - Sweet Spot!

This is probably because less power is being wasted on the wheelspin when the bike is geared up. The wheelspin is a huge battery drainer. Also, we have no idea how significantly that "sweet spot" becomes unsweet outside of that 6-8K rpm range. Perhaps the motor is still efficient enough there.

    Holy 14T - Sweet Spot!

I just read that Alta advertises 60 miles of city commute and 4 hours of trail riding for the 2018 Redshift EX. That's quite optimistic. According to Wikipedia: Studies that have relied on self-measurement, including those from Internet surveys, consistently reported a higher average length...

    Holy 14T - Sweet Spot!

That's a very valuable info! Unfortunately for MX and single track, this sweet spot is way above the average speed: And gearing the bike up would make things even less efficient from the motor's standpoint. So, perhaps, for the longest range in such conditions, one might want to gear the...

    Holy 14T - Sweet Spot!

Agreed. Even on a smooth paved road 60 miles is not likely, unless you are descending from a high elevation or have a strong tail wind. The MXR peds are nothing special, similar to the stock pegs on other MX bikes. They are not as slippery at the MX and EX pegs. We have a couple of some footpeg...

Ty Tremaine and Lyndon Poskitt to race in the Erzberg Rodeo

I was hoping to see the Ty's Alta in this video. He wasn't there. But the video is pretty cool and worth watching anyway. Warning: It is 2 hours and 14 minutes long! But you should at least watch the first 5-10 minutes. Then relax, get a beer, and watch 2 hours more. It would have been super...

    Chain Slider failures

The Birdie is working in it, ordered a few of them to test out. We should know soon, hopefully, unless one of us figures it out sooner.

    Chain Slider failures

    Yes, the front slider.

    Plug your coolant overflow hose

According to Alta, the coolant overflow hose is no longer needed and can be plugged. I am reposting this and making it a sticky so that this info does not get lost. It will remain relevant for the 2018 and older bikes for quite some time.

    6.12.18 Big Announcement? -- 2019 Redshift EXR

Or maybe Alta will announce a program that offers $4,500 vouchers to its 2017 model year customers towards the purchase of a new bike.
