    6.12.18 Big Announcement? -- 2019 Redshift EXR

Maybe Alta will be announcing their European expansion? There are plans for that, I heard earlier this year. Although I do not know how that would be possible without upsetting the US dealers and customers if there is still a backlog of orders in the US (is there??).

Oh... one caveat... Perhaps I do not like a wide MX32/MX3S tire myself. It feels too stiff, and it either grips hard or it does not. After the stock MX Bridgestones I have been running a Kenda Southwick II in the rear, and sometimes in the front.

    6.12.18 Big Announcement? -- 2019 Redshift EXR

Perhaps those plans were scrapped after the performance at Erzberg. Also, Alta did not have any bikes with them to reveal besides the two Ty's bikes. However, if the Erzberg's results were something to brag about, then perhaps yes, the timing would have been very appropriate.

Perhaps it is a riding style, but I have no problems sliding the Alta around flat corners. I initiate the slide with the rear brake and then catch it with the throttle. The Alta is very easy to rear-steer compared to all other bikes. I found the stock MXR 100mm tire to be too easy to spin up in...

    6.12.18 Big Announcement? -- 2019 Redshift EXR

The EXR, most likely. It is strange that they picked a Tuesday for the day of the big announcement.

Ty Tremaine and Lyndon Poskitt to race in the Erzberg Rodeo

A few interesting details in this article: Alta Motors Makes History at the Erzberg Rodeo Despite numerous challenges and setbacks, Alta Factory Racing team riders, Ty Tremaine and Lyndon Poskitt, both qualified for the main event. Alta Motors, the leader in performance electric motorcycles...

@MotoMinded -- Yes, you can create a poll. You will just have to start a new thread and select "Post a poll" at the bottom. I also prefer Option 2.

    Holy 14T - Sweet Spot!

Assuming we have no idea where this motor has its sweet, most economical RPM range, the only sure way to increase the range is to avoid any wheelspin, use the brakes as little as possible, and carry momentum. A different gearing would help the range only if it allows you to ride more smoothly...

Ty Tremaine and Lyndon Poskitt to race in the Erzberg Rodeo

Ty is there at 1:23 to 1:28, looking good. That's it, just 5 seconds. I think the guy right after him was Cody Webb, who broke his foot when he crashed there. Skip the 5-minute KTM electric race in the middle. Now we know who pays the bills there.

Thanks for the tip, Fog! This rear tire clearance is one more thing to remember and to check every time a new tire is installed. I installed a 45-tooth rear sprocket at the same time as I installed this 110mm wide tire. I shortened the chain not by the expected 4 links but only by 2 links. So...

    Chain Slider failures

I have a PSA: A little birdie (from Alta) told me "a 2012 KTM aftermarket slider might work". Which aftermarket manufacturer -- I do not know. Maybe Scott @Elite Motorsports would know? I also heard someone here on the board might have a 2013 model. It's worth checking.

    Ohlins steering damper fits nicely

Throttle and brake at the same time? That's interesting. I have done that on ICE bikes, mostly mid-turn to gain more control over what the engine does. The Alta's engine offers a plenty of control, so I wasn't thinking about it mid-turn. But going over bumps... I will try that, thanks...

    Chain Slider failures

Some dirt bikes have parts that tend to fail in one way or another. But they do not offer warranties on their stuff. So you usually do not see long threads with complaints. Also, those bikes have been around for decades, so most known issues have been fixed. Alta offered some warranty on some...

@MotoMinded also wanted to start making those.

    Chain Slider failures

This is a solid advice, Ray. And I might eventually decide to do exactly that. There is but one problem with it though. Those Alta customers that didn't switch from Zero are not used to fixing up broken OEM parts, which should have been bulletproof from the factory! We are still...

    Chain Slider failures

Well, a new Alta slider would only be good to sell the bike with, not use it. But at least we put Alta on notice to fix this crap. Let's hope either they improve their sliders on the aftermarket does it for them.
