Help me convert an MXR into an SMR -- Progress Thread

My guesses then are: #1 - Rear accessory harness #2 - The left handlebar switch #3 - ACM #4 - ACM #5 and #6 - The rear brake switch and the kickstand switch #7 - The front brake switch

Help me convert an MXR into an SMR -- Progress Thread

Makes sense! All the switches are probably low-voltage switches that alert the ACM. - The left handlebar switch - The front brake switch - The rear brake switch - The kickstand switch The ACM then decides who gets the 12V voltage.

Help me convert an MXR into an SMR -- Progress Thread

I have the Front and the Rear accessory harnesses here (Thank you, @ayden_kry!). I have already connected a New Rage Cycles tail light to the Rear accessory harness. The Front accessory harness plugs into the ACM, replacing the blank connector there. The Rear accessory harness plugs into the...

Help me convert an MXR into an SMR -- Progress Thread

Ordered 13T and 14T front sprockets. My current gearing with 12F/45R sprockets pulls strong but makes too much noise. The 14F/45R will be close to the SM's stock 15F/50R gearing.

Help me convert an MXR into an SMR -- Progress Thread

Removed the side numbers and installed a new rear fender with tail light mounting points. A much cleaner look now. Maybe I should peel the graphics from the shrouds too.

Help me convert an MXR into an SMR -- Progress Thread

Turns out I will be needing help with more items. I am converting this into a progress thread. Changing the thread title from "Help me figure out the front brake hose routing on the SMR" to "Help me convert an MXR into an SMR".

Help me convert an MXR into an SMR -- Progress Thread

Done! I decided to hang the headlight on only three bolts because this should be a plenty for on-road riding, it's not going anywhere.

    EXR Tires and Tire Pressures

You only have one size choice for the front in the ContiTrailAttack 3. For the rear I would go with 150/70-R18 because the stock SM rear tire is also 150mm wide, but you should also be able to run 160/60 in the ContiRoadAttack tires.

    Best Alta Generator

+1 That's what I would have also bought, if I needed a generator. The funny part is that between having the lithium batteries in the van and bringing two fully charged bikes to the track I haven't had to use my DuroMax generator yet!

    EXR Tires and Tire Pressures

Running off-road tires on asphalt is not going to keep them or you happy, no matter what the tire pressure is. Without looking too long, I would either go with these tires for 80% road and 20% offroad: Continental Motorcycle Tires ContiTrailAttack 3 Or with these tires for 100% road...

You have a picture of an MXR in your profile. Not very helpful. What is your bike model and year?

A couple vids featuring the Alta

The Alta was moving and jumping underneath him much more than his YZ250 did. Either it is a suspension tuning, or perhaps also the the way the Alta pitches much more over obstacles. He was lugging that YZ250, so I can't think it was generating more than 25-35 hp peak. The Alta is heavier, but...

A couple vids featuring the Alta

Frank-the-Dog likes the Alta, LOL! That was funny. My cat passed away recently. She liked the Alta too. She liked to sit in the backyard right next to my figure-8 track and watch me practice. She was not afraid at all.

What Is Stock EXR Spring Rate

I have three bikes and I couldn't find any markings either. But they are there, in plain sight. You might need to use a mirror. Or remove the shock. It takes just 5 minutes with some practice.

What Is Stock EXR Spring Rate

I am curious to know too. It should say right on the spring. Something like "WP 57 - 260". This stands for White Power, 57 N/mm spring rate, 260 mm long. :lurker:
