Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

Now, the biggest revelation for me so far has been Map 4. If you are not using Map 4, then you are not using the full power of the Redshift. It is like never opening the throttle fully. Riding in Map 4, but not opening the throttle fully, is almost the same thing. Why do riders prefer other...

No, you have a stock MX spring and suspension. The MX has a different linkage and runs a heavier spring.

Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

A few key observations (more will be added, as they are revealed): 1) Map 1 is a slow map. Period. 2) Map 3 is more powerful than Map 2, but only up until 30 mph. After that these two maps are identical. 3) Map 4 is in a category of its own. It is way-way more powerful than all other maps (I...

Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

I thought, wouldn't it be nice to dyno my two Redshifts? Of course it would! I googled the web and found an interesting Dirt Bike magazine article with all the charts and even numbers of the 2018 model year 450cc motocross bikes. They used an FMF DynoJet dyno. So, I googled and called around...

Special Tools for - Alta Motors Redshift Models

From listening to the Redshift old-timers it seems like the software updates have been rare and even somewhat optional. You might be better of renting a laptop only when you need it.

Refuel Electric Vehicle Event at Laguna Seca 7.1.18

Sounds like a good excuse to try racing slicks on your bike! Too bad I am almost never in California on July 1st.

Special Tools for - Alta Motors Redshift Models

@aremean79 -- I think you may want to buy your MXR from Elite Motorsports together with that rental laptop. You will be able to do your own updates and diagnostics at home in Singapore.

Special Tools for - Alta Motors Redshift Models

This could be an really attractive solution to some. $3,000 added to my home equity line of credit is just $10/mo. It is about the same as buying a Yamaha's GYTR tuner thingie, if taken over the average duration of a bike ownership. Or less, if you want to keep things as-is and return the laptop...

What are the major problems of the MXR?

No, not selling. Diagnosing problems and updating software.

Battery care, some things I thought you guys should know.

+1. I remember re-sleeving my moped's cylinder, heating it up in my grandma's kitchen oven, then drilling and filing new ports in it. Soldering my own reed valve cages out of brass plates. Changing all the frame geometry with a hack saw and a welder to match the pictures in magazines...

What are the major problems of the MXR?

This could be an AWESOME solution for Alta as well! This would not satisfy all the hackers and the tuners but should make all other owners (especially those living far away from dealers), as well as Alta Motors, extremely happy. @Judaslefourbe
