Interesting you should mention that because that’s exactly what happened to mine as well, right after I had the firmware updated. @datadog , was there changes to the firmware that would have made the bike more sensitive to these module imbalance issues?

Won’t the bike shut that circuit off upon start up with no load detected? When I ran some tests on that auxiliary plug that is what I observed FWIW.

In fairness, Bionicman’s bike may have had a totally unrelated issue. His bike became totally unresponsive, which was the first and only case we heard of on here.

I guess we should specify year and model also, since your bike is a 19 EXR the serial number would reset at the beginning of that model year. You had a totally dead bike with no codes if I recall, correct?

I’d like to start preparing for the worse and looking for potential people/places that may be able to service and repair these batteries should it come to that. Do we have any thoughts or ideas? Maybe a competent forum member that would consider a side job? Even best case scenario with Alta...

@datadog are their any dangers of riding and charging the bike with this condition? I believe the original poster did say his would charge.

Well, mine is #343 @Bloak , @Rocketz152 , @Fog 25 , @schwankl what number are your bikes? Whoever has the highest we can assume anything below that could be affected. Anyone else I forgot who has had a battery replaced feel free to add your info.

As far as I am aware, @Bloak and myself are the only two here (so far) in the same S.O.L. situation with the code 36. Almost need to see a dissected one of those failed batteries next to the revised design and figure out what they changed.

One could assume from that response that the problem was more of a design issue.

It sounds like a fair amount of early MXR’s have experienced this issue. Wish it would have happened to me earlier this month when I had it at the dealer for firmware update and Alta was still operational...

It’s a code that apparently always results in the battery needing replacement. The bike you got from Motominded allegedly got that code as well according to one of the old posts on the subject.

Yes, I would still be under warranty.

We have an exceptional group of talented people here, already we have members looking into solutions to some of these problems. I think in a worse case scenario we will come up with fixes, it just won't be as nice as walking into a dealer for a part or service.

Signals shouldn't be too bad, as long as the bulb is similar to avoid some of the problems guys have had when converting to LED. Brakes are all Brembo items, levers are standard KTM, front brake is 2014 KTM or Motion Pro #14-9012. Rear brake if using the Alta LHRB kit is also a KTM/Brembo...

The EXR's fork is a spring fork, the MXR is air, so you have the weight of the springs, kickstand, lights, wiring and brackets.
