in short the sur ron is not in same league as Alta its a play bike the Alta is an honest MX bike with a different powerplant. period
that said my sur ron has approx 2k miles on it mostly commuting to work - doubles as play bike but componets are mixture of moto & mountain bike parts ie not...
minus KTM I'm still amazed there are no Alta alternatives are commercially available - as electric motorcycles will never replace the dino variant but in certain applications they are superior
it is all encompassing trailer - notice my drop hitch... high ground clearance with torsion axles perfect for my off grid property....

Talon is good so far no belts to burn with annoying CVT 8k whine
maybe your right - perhaps invalidate the ADV/Overland crowd altogether - they want to pose with the roof top tents & knobby tires on their big ADV bikes but they are never 300miles or so from a gas station....
offgrid... phshshs
If they are actually doing the trip on electrics it will totally invalidate them - with the constant 'connection' to the grid or support crew required to support a trip like that..
Suspension is there to suspend you not park the bike silly rabbit besides bike is on boat to new owner in New Zealand ~ rule #1 is in effect~
sell a toy - buy a toy...😉
On the bike or off still required to lean vehicle unnecessarily to rider right to deploy
with shorter kickstand vehicle requires less lean to rider right to deploy but then leans excessively to rider left while being supportive
out
ROFLOL - I've ridden/owned a few bike in my time here...
mounting/lean angle of kickstand of normal motorcycle - imagine sitting on most bikes you lean motorcycle over 1.9 degrees toward rider right deploy kickstand then support on side stand @ 4 degrees of lean support motorcycle on side stand...
The root issue is not sidestand length it was the mounting bracket positioning on the motorcycle causing the over center phenomenon
This was me/my bike & has no bearing on the entire run nor was it the sole reasoning I sold my bike but entirely frustrating yes.
I tried shortening my sidestand...
yes I sold my bike in large part to not the length or bracketry of the sidestand but the over-center nature - the fact the bike required to lean it 5degrees rider right to fully deploy the sidestand back rider left 2 degrees
forget it supporting itself in anything other than a downhill rider...
I am beyond surprised we have not a single major manufacturer offer an E bike similar to Alta?? Very frustrating from us (consumers) that know the ALTA was a motorcycle just as every other one produced just with a 'different' power plant. Pros/cons can be debated...
