Do you miss using a clutch?

I'm very curious to see how the Stark Varg programming may be able to deal with that fast spin up scenario. Perhaps it will be able to be programmed out without too much difficulty. I haven't found it to be much of an issue for me here in the PacNW, but if a "tractor mode" (like a rev limiter)...

Do you miss using a clutch?

"However, one of the biggest advantages we have on the Alta is how incredibly manageable the power is. The power is delivered in a very smooth fashion, and its super easy to modulate with the throttle. There's no lurching or teeter-tottering like a gas bike under partial throttle. Its so...

the bike ergonomics kinda worry me...

Looks like he just landed a jump, or coming off a whoop or something, the suspension seems to be significantly compressed in the rear, possibly extended in front. Take a look at the static pics of the bike all over the internet, looks normal to me.

the bike ergonomics kinda worry me...

Most of the hi performance dirt bikes have had relatively flat seats for years. Some have a slight dip, some have a small step, but overall, pretty flat. Certainly not like the old days where you were in sort of U shaped seat. I much prefer the modern flat seats where you can move around easily...

    Riding long ruts

Wow. Interesting that the MotoGP guys have been dangling their legs for the last few years, seems strange to me, but doesn't appear to be slowing them down any.

the bike ergonomics kinda worry me...

I think its just the angle of the bike squatting and a tall (?) rider sitting way back. From all of the pics and videos online, its looks normal to me. I'm thinking if Josh Hill and Seb Tortelli are loving it, I'm good to go.

    Reservations & Delivery/Due Dates

You may have seen already, but Bryan announced yesterday that he is worldwide customer #1 and is going to Barcelona for the press thing this spring, so we should get some great feedback from him. Can't wait to hear what he has to say, both this spring, and when he gets his actual bike. Link to...

    Reservations & Delivery/Due Dates

I'm going full on wishful thinking and imagining they are going to get bikes out to customers sooner then September and then increase production incrementally over time through working smarter not harder, or just plain magic. Either way, pretty much counting on my December '22 delivery to show...

    I am customer #1

Very cool Bryan! Just saw it over on the SV group on FB. Congrats! Couldn't have picked a better first owner. Can't wait to hear more about it. -Ed

Honda enters the e-mini market with CRF-E2

This really surprised me, looks like an outsourced effort through Greenger Powersports. I wonder if it has any actual Honda parts (wheels, brakes, suspension?), or if its completely non-Honda (probably Chinese) parts? Very strange.

Josh Hill's Oregon Riding Compound - Some Alta content.

Come on out! As the youngsters say: YOLO! Lots of beautiful national parks and riding areas between here and there. Would be an epic trip.

Josh Hill's Oregon Riding Compound - Some Alta content.

Thanks, I'll keep you posted if anything develops. Another option if the Stark Varge is in customer hands by then is to put together a Stark Varge team, with or without Hill's and/or Stark Varge corporate involvement. Piggy back on the Alta boys knowledge and experience for the 24 hour race...

Josh Hill's Oregon Riding Compound - Some Alta content.

I called and spoke to Josh Hill's dad last summer (I think it was), real nice guy. I invited Josh to join the Alta team for last years 24 Hour at Starvation Ridge race. His dad liked the idea, told me to send an email with the details, that he would mention it to Josh. I sent the email and never...

Josh Hill's Oregon Riding Compound - Some Alta content.

A recent video tour of Josh Hill's riding compound in Oregon. Looks killer. Some misc Alta content sprinkled in (2:40 mark and a couple other times). Dude can ride (recently qualified for the mains in a few SX races as a short notice fill in rider). Amazes me how fast he is in the trees.

MX, EX, SM I’ve had them all…

I've seriously considered setting up my MXR as an SM, its so much fun on the street, even with full knobbies and 21/18 wheels/tires. Decided keeping my license is more important then hooning around on my Alta. Still, it is tempting, Lol.

    Killing Alta

I don't understand it either. Why did they pay for the tech if they can't use it? Now, 4+ years later, the tech has been dormant (as far as we know) while others continue to push the envelope. At what point is the "old" Alta tech irrelevant? 4-5 years is a long time in this ever evolving...

STARK VARG (Something new is coming!)

Regarding the fact that most tracks are currently in the middle of nowhere, keep in mind that with electric dirt bikes, tracks can be put almost anywhere. The loud and annoying sound of current ICE bikes and the typical negative reactions to it will no longer be an issue. Tracks and trails will...

    Electric Mountain Bikes

I bought a Luna X1 e-mtb bike last fall, only took it on a couple of rides before the weather turned. I like it so far, hoping to kickstart a fitness effort with it when it warms up a bit here. And I would not recommend buying an e-mtn bike from Luna, bike arrived with all kinds of obvious...
