EM Factor-E Trials: 4-speed transmission, Flywheel, and Clutch

I have a 2018 Alta EXR and a 2021 Electric Motion e pure with a clutch. I will not buy another motorcycle without a clutch. I’m not really sure that the 4 speed transmission is needed. Electric Motion is currently at the pinnacle of electric motorcycle development. They’re trying different...

2019 Alta Redshift MXR code 36 in Fort Collins, CO

I’ve had that code displayed for 4 years. If it runs ride it.

    Code 37 second time.

I’ve had code 37 showing for over 6 months. The bike works fine and my Dad always said “if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it” so that’s where I’m at. It is good to know that it probably has no moisture and that’s what makes a forum like this so valuable.

    Displays button functions (POLL)

Anything that keeps these great bikes going will be great. I think I bought the last display Alta had as they folded. Can functions be added to the unused buttons on the OEM displays?

    Displays button functions (POLL)

An alternative display would be great. Here’s what I would like in order of importance. 1: State of charge 2: hour meter 3: odometer 4: trip odometer 5: time of day (clock) I’m guessing that there are Alta’s not in use because of the lack of a replacement display unit. Thanks in advance for...

    Footpeg spring retainer

Not really. I don’t recall any issues installing the YZ springs. The OEM spring simply is a poor design and reshaping it didn’t solve the problem to my satisfaction. My bikes an 2018 EX.

    Footpeg spring retainer

Here’s a simple fix. Replace the springs with 2015 Yamaha YZ250F OEM. I have done this and it solves the problem.

Exr rear brake light wire and connetion clip question

Cycle terminal http://cycleterminal.com/ These folks sell the connectors, pins and tool you need to match the connectors on your Alta. Looks like they’re out of the office till 1/14/19. Use the pictures to match your connectors up.

    Broken display - solution?

No I don’t have the old display. Here’s pics of my remount to a safer location behind the handlebars. I used 1”x1/16” aluminum angle from Lowe’s and made the mount using, hammer, hacksaw, 6” bench vise and a handheld drill. Took me 2-3 hours to construct.

    Broken display - solution?

I just went through this with my EX the week before Alta ceased. They sent one the dealer that was cosmetically damaged (I cannot see a thing wrong with it). As they were out of stock and on back order. Yours looks just like mine. The LCD itself is cracked. I did take it apart and it has Alta...

    What's the aux light for?

Well you guys are right. The bike is sensing loads. I suppose this is done via can bus? Anyone know if they are using can bus? I tried adding the USB charger in parallel to the aux bulb. You get voltage momentarily then the “system” senses the difference in load and shuts off the circuit. I...

    What's the aux light for?

You should have no problem running a USB charger off that circuit. Disconnect the light and wire in your charger. The charger will draw less than the light. I’m going to do the same to run a phone as GPS.

    What's the aux light for?

That little light is required in Europe. I don't know why. I have used that circuit to power accessories on other bikes I own.

    Replacement Display

Display is in "TEST" mode. I received a replacement display for my 2018 EXR. When I plug it in to the bikes wiring harness it Displays "TEST" all I'm able to do is step through a test sequence that tests all the lights etc. The bike will not go live and run with the display in this "TEST" mode...

Did you keep your old bike?

I have had regrets from the sale of most bikes I’ve owned through the years. I have 19 motorcycles at present. If I could only keep one it would be my trusty old KLR650. If you love it keep it.

    Replacement Display

Replacement Display I hit a tree and busted the LCD on the display. $399.64 for a replacement unit. OUCH! Anyone have any ideas on an alternate way to read out the Battery capacity? That and the green blinker are really all I need to see. Anyone have a display they want to sell?

    Footpeg dragging in ruts

The ground clearance on the Alta is less than a KTM. Therefore the foot pegs are lower. So is the seat. It's all a trade off.
