Have 1000 miles on the EXR today - no problems so far - I am certain that electric allows me to ride more often and in weird urban areas - thanks Alta people for creating this stealth weapon.

I could have rode it stock but I did a few upgrades.

Here are some things I can’t live without:

1. LHRB - I really can’t live without this thing - can’t ride with a foot brake anymore that I’m used to it

2. Using a 1/2 Throttle & Lighter Return Spring - I got used to 1/2 throttles on my ebike, I feel you have better control holding on to the bars in whoops and rough sections - I also put a lighter gage return spring making the throttle easier to rotate and much less taxing holding a constant speed for street riding

3. Twisted Engineering Composi-Flex Bars - way less rider fatigue as the Alta frame is pretty rigid.

4. Hand Guards - I do lots of single track so you save your knuckles - also if you crash you don’t break your levers

5. Display Guard - gotta protect that thing - thanks Trialsman

6. Better Lighting - stock front light really sucked - have used Baja Designs Squadron Sport which worked well but I went to a 50 watt light bar off eBay because it has a wider beam and doesn’t reflect off the front fender - have had a lot of issues changing out the stock tail light, mainly when bottoming out folding the license plate - the Baja designs tail light works pretty well - the NRC signal lights plug right in

7. Fastway rear suspension link - it lowered the rear a little and protects the shock from damage going over trees and rocks

8. I was fortunate to be able to swap the front forks and rear shock for MXR units with another member on AOF - the difference is unbelievable - the MXR stuff suits me perfectly - the other member wanted a softer ride for trails do we both got what we needed

9. YZ Footpeg Springs - no more getting stuck in the up position

10. BRP Chain Guide - thing is bullet proof - much stronger and wear resistant versus the stock one

11. Hotfoots front chain slider - the stock one cracked - Hotfoots is awesome

12. Alta seat nut - I’m glad I got one of these to quickly remove the seat with no tools

Here are some things that are personal preference:

A. Tubliss - a real pain to install but great for running really low pressure

B. Front disc guard - it looks cool but needed to modify the wheel spacer - it was a real pain

C. Newer style CRF front fender - I like it better

D. Button head bolts on gear cover - my boot kept getting caught on the stock bolts

E. Shinko Fatty Front Tire - I love that thing and it looks cool

F. CR Grips - I got cheap knock offs but I really like them much better than the stock ones as a more cushy feel

G. Hybrid Ceramic Wheel Bearings - I kept getting rust in the bearings after some wet rides - a real pain to fix - the ceramic balls never rust

H. Graphics - might as well do it

Are the Knights of the Electric Iron Horse like the Knights who say NI!

They have various battle cries. Sometimes they scream “Braap!” or “Beep!” because people don’t hear them coming. But mostly they just ride around with a maniacal grin on their face and make electric whirring sounds. Sometimes they enjoy a nice, affordable shrubbery.

Nice neighborhood, looks a lot like mine. You would happen to live in Houston would you?

Yes I do - the Woodlands area - we should go Alta-ing
For sure. I live in Cypress and work in the Woodlands sometimes. We’ll definitely have to meet up for a ride sometime. I have 2, 2019 MXR’s and 3 of my friends each bought 2018 MXR’s after riding my bikes. Other than you, I don’t know of anybody else in our area that has an Alta. The only mods I’ve done are rental far bars, 13 tooth front sprocket, and the graphics on one bike, along with Ohlins suspension on the front forks, (which was a huge improvement over the stock WP) and a Ohlins rear shock getting delivered next week to complete the bike. I just had the parts delivered for the rear hand brake mod and will be doing that in the next week or two. These Alta’s are the best bikes I’ve ever ridden, I absolutely love them.

Call it the Houston Electric Hooligans.

There is Alta Ed who lives up North - he has four Alta’s, one of each type I believe - he is recovering from a major shoulder injury however.

FYI - Ed is the Vice President of The Sam Houston Trails Association who administers the multi-use trails.

On a related note the multi use trails suffered major damage a few weeks ago when very high winds went through the area - lots of downed trees, trails still not open

@VINSANITY , did you have any issues with that 50w light bar running it off the stock lighting circuits? Looking back on some of your old old posts about different lights you were trying, it looks like the 40w Baja Designs Squadron Pro didn’t agree with the stock circuit.
