btw...the Task bar lights and helmet lights are stupid bright and a great way to make s'mores after using them for a bit. :D I'm so damned excited for this race I can't sleep already. I added a new electronic "horn" to let people know I'm on them...less work than the air horn and a bit smaller. Finally got the LHRB system bled tonight...so look out!

What's the master plan for the generators? Would the OneLapper's generator charge five bikes that are not on the track? Or is the plan to charge just 2 at a time, which might be asking for trouble?

Should I not bother bringing my own 240V generator? I have only one 5 ga can that I can bring full of diesel or full of gas. Hoping not to be bringing any more items than I have to.

We had figured only 2 bikes will ever need to be charging at any given time. Marks diesel generator will be handling bike charging only, he has a small Honda for lights and misc. low power items. I’m bringing my 10k as the backup.

I'll have my gas powered 4.8k 110/240v on my trailer too. So there's another backup/alternative purpose option.

I think we should have at least 3 bikes charging at any given time. If a hot after-race bike takes 2 hours to charge fully, which may be even longer for the Mark's MX, then we are hoping that it would last longer than 1 hour in race conditions. If it's is dry and we ride slowly without much wheelspin this could work. I would rather charge 3 bikes at a time, which would give us a safe cushion in the event of mud, or if one of is a more aggressive rider heavier on the throttle.

So... If my generator is not needed, should I be bringing 5 gallons of diesel or 5 gallons of gas?

I would count on laps to be 30-45 minutes at ten miles per lap...or two laps per bike per stint. Time will obviously vary from rider to rider, day and night, and if we get any rain. I don't know how anyone could do more than 2 laps on a charge regardless of ability. Bring extra diesel.

I'm not racing with you guys, but I would strongly encourage this plan. You want to be sure each rider gets at least one full lap in the good daylight hours regardless of battery range. This will be even more important for the guys racing at Starvation Ridge in the PNW. They won't have much daylight at the end of October.

That’s an interesting thought. If there was interest, I suppose we could create a “Team Alta Owners Forum” Facebook group and then post live video updates to the group. Any member of the group could add to that, and it could continue to be used by different teams at different events as long as they join the group. Not everyone has or wants to bother with Facebook though.

Thoughts?

@Matt you know of any other options?

Burning HD t-shirts is not a good idea, they leak oil everywhere.
I agree that at least the first loop out should be 1 lap. If we are ready for the rider change we shouldn't lose that much time pitting.
I'll be arriving at the venue around 9-10AM (ish) with 5 gallons of diesel ready to go.
Weather doesn't look too bad, probably a thunderstorm on Sat.
