ALTA negatives

I've always done that with the exhaust! Haha wow something I haven't thought about with the Alta. I love the smell it left on my gloves and hands, made for a good drive home haha

Same here, my whole riding gear smelled like premix.

Here's a negative....the brake pedal kind of sucks. The pins aren't that grippy (I've seen other replace with bigger ones so I'll try that) and it packs with mud/dirt quickly. I'm going to hollow out the pedal so it will allow mud/do to pass

Not being able to use the brake is not a negative... All they do is slow you down. And why would you want to do that when you bought something made by faster, faster?!

The rear brakes sucks so bad.... Gave me the incentive to put on a LHRB... Made this awesome machine EVEN BETTER!

The whole concept of a foot-operated brake was a compromise as it was "better" to put the clutch on the handlebars. Put on a LHRB and don't look back!

I like the rear brake where it is I just don't like the pedal! I'll post pics when I get mine fixed up! I still ride bikes with a clutch the Alta is not my only bike. I think a LHRB would only cause me confusion although I can see it being nice.

If there was no chance of me ever riding a friends bike or another bike (Which I am ok with!) I would put the rear brake on the throttle side and front brake on the clutch side....and be done with the foot brake. BUT we all know that everyone wants to ride our sweet bikes.... so we cant let them hop on our bikes with a non standard brake setup. And ofcoarse you need to ride their bike or you will not get any riding in....so cant go back to foot brake if you stepped up to hand lever.

"I like the rear brake where it is I just don't like the pedal!" It is a relatively simple matter to cut the foot part off the pedal (or mill it for a better job.) Next you go to the local KTM dealer and buy a HammerHead brake end. you will need to drill and tap the first and third hole through into the Alta pedal. I did this on mine and it looks just like a factory job and gives a very positive foot placement.

So that's my next step...first I'm going to try different pins and drill/hollow out the pedal. Reason being I can't find an Alta pedal as easily now so I know doing that won't render it in operable. Not that I don't trust my craftsmanship in cutting off the tip and adding a different one on but some stupid chance something happens I don't want to be left searching. But I have been looking for a couple different tips for sure, I'll post up some pice when I get it done just been busy at work. I can't zoom in very far on yours trailsman but I can tell there's an orange one on there...good job!

How do y'all find the need to use the back brake? With as strong as the regen brake is, if I even think of touching the pedal, the rear tire locks up. So skid steer use only... For scrubbing speed off, it's regen and front brake as required, even on steep hills. Is this just a track use thing?

I mainly use the rear for slide steering while my front is the main tool to slow down.
