Alternative License Plate Mounting Ideas for the EX.

Has anyone figured out a good place to the plate to mount to the bike and not get torn off in the first UPD or loop out? I'm in the USA so our plates are much smaller than say the UK.
I'm leaning on bending it to fit the rear fender lengthways and mount it there.
