Erzberg Firmware (MX/MXR)

WARNING!!!!!!!!: This is based off the v1.4.1 of the MXR Firmware, which contains the bug where rolling the throttle forward causes the "Inverter Throttle Fault" and the bike shuts off. This could potentially be a dangerous situation for you.

New in DEV_ERZBERG_MXR_0.0.2:
- move motor thermal derate (start and end) +15 C
- add hill hold feature

Here is my take on the different maps for enduro / trail riding. tested them on my Redshift EX on hard terrain, single tracks etc (no Motocross).

- EX fw 1.2.1 -
This is the most updated version.
there is no much difference in regen between the different maps.
power slightly increase when going up the maps, but nothing major.
riding in map 1 or 3 does not make much of a difference to me.

Erzberg fw -
Regen and power wise, difference is not very pronounced between the different maps.
they added "hill hold" mode (when pressing the maps middle button). it provide enough power to the rear wheel, to prevent the bike from rolling backwards, hence, not loosing the distance you achieved going uphill when coming to a stop.
I did not get along with it. when stopping on gnarly terrain, I needed that backward motion in order to gain momentum for another try going over a rock or a log.
in addition, you sometime stop, but need to roll back a bit to find a safe spot to put your feet down. this feature prevent you from doing so, I fell quite a lot with it.
perhaps in open gas and sandy type hill climbs, the feature is useful.

older EX & SM fw (EX 1.0.1), inverter fw 2.16.1 -
by far, my favorite.
a very distinct difference between the maps,
map 1 is very mellow with no regen (at least, I can't tell). I use it for very slippery rocky slopes, and when I need to preserve battery energy.
map 2 quite powerful but still no regen. my favorite for trail riding. when letting go off the throttle, the bike continue to cruise along, and is not stopped by motor regen. provide great smooth flowy feel to a single track.
map 3- more regen and more power. still not too weak and the regen is acceptable (although can be felt well).
map 4 - crazy power, and regen is very strong. the bike becomes touchy and brutal. I only use it for steep down hill, for its regen braking force. I hardly need to use the rear brake. it's great. in all other maps, i find my rear wheel locked & dragged too often.

I use EX fw version 1.2.1 (newest) with the older inverter fw (from EX 1.0.1). you can update the inverter fw by using the loader tab in Multitool.

Regarding the Erzberg FW with the hill-hold... I was thinking that would be neat, but all you need to do is engage a little throttle and it's the same thing.. I started sliding back down a hill the other day, where my right foot had to be down, and just cracked a little throttle to stop me it was awesome.

I would really like to reduce the Regen to let the bike coast better - I think I could extend range by saving momentum - I think TCMB or Mark911 will soon crack the code so we can play with our settings (within reason) - I mess with my settings on my ebike depending on what I am doing with it - it’s got Bluetooth so you can change settings anywhere, wish the Alta had something similar

Installed EX 1.2.1. firmware, now I have metric speed readout as well as metric odometer. Can I change the metric back to miles on the readout and keep all other in the EX 1.2.1. upgrade firmware version?

If I recall correctly, than a long press on one of the display's buttons, changes the reading from metric to imperial.
That is how it works on my EX.
