The day started off at a brisk 28 degrees, frost covering the ground. Every stick of wood used to make the Extreme Section was as slick as ice, hard to walk on it without wiping out. For the season finale, the extreme section sported a jersey barrier! Thankfully, the organizers provided a go around for the barrier, but all in all, the extreme was SO extreme that it added about 20 seconds to your time vs taking the "Easy" section.
And of course, there's the famous Southwick track! All sand. As deep as it gets. This was my first time at Southwick when it hasn't been raining or the track soupy. But still, there's a technique to riding in deep wet sand, which I'm stilling learning, but the "more throttle the better' adage seems apply here!
