I should have done this way sooner. The Honda fender with it's stock mounting is so floppy. It's a little better with the TCMB front fender mounts as they are more rigid than the stock mounts, but the Honda fender still flops a bit.
@TCMB371 how did you get the gap between the front number plate and the front fender to close? Did you tap another hole for the front number plate mounting?

Its not perfectly closed, but i did open up the slot where the number plate mounts to the upper clamp a little bit, allowing it to slide downward another few mm. Not really a big deal.

I did the Ktm fender swap and took a few pics to help other users.
you will need
1) 2016+ Ktm 450sxf front fender
2) 2016+ Ktm number plate.
3) m7-1.00 20mm length bolt for front number plate
4) m6-1.00 tap set with 3/16 drill bit
1) cut out the new bottom holes first to mount the fender under the lower clamp. The new plastic holes are forward and slightly closer together from the stock Ktm holes. I used polisport 2016 Ktm sxf fender. I used the stock front number plate washers for the new holes in the front fender to lessen the pressure on the fender plastic.
2) I used a smaller bit to start the front top screw new holes into the lower triple clamp. It was just a mm or less into the triple clamp.
3) remove fender and finish the 3/16” new hole through lower triple clamp.
I personally don’t like the appearance of the KTM fender - the 2019 / 2020 Honda CRF fenders and front number plate bolt up to the Alta with no mods - somehow the lines and aesthetics are more to my liking.
Also the EXR has a steel mounting assembly so no fender slap issues
