Shiftless is the first dirtbike I have ever had insurance on.
Some years ago some yahoo who hit me by flying across the main trail upon which I was traveling. It could have been ugly including death and dismembersjip. We were lucky.
This was at the Hollister State park, where the vehicle code applies.
The moral of the story: if you are in an accident and deemed at fault, you could be held responsible for someone's medical bills. This could be expensive. If you do not have insurance, you could be fucked.
I have a $3 mill umbrella policy, but it requires $100K base liability. So I have that. Cheap, like $20.
When I was a kid and did not have net worth it was no big deal.
