New VARG Software Update.

anyone got today the 1.7.1 firmware?

It appeared on a friend's bike, but not mine

They were supposed to announce what each update contains, but they haven't

No. Still on 1.7.0 Silly question. What will have to change for MX1 original phone users to get the Advanced Modes? Both firmware and App updates? Or just one of the two?

Did they actually ever agree to do that? I am going into my 3rd year of ownership and I have never received a proper "release notes" which is what most software houses provide. This typically contains things like new features, general changes, bugs fixed, and version compatibility.

From my research/understanding the primary blocker is the firmware and VCU support, the app itself is fully compatible between hardware revisions. Based on everything I've seen I don't think they will ever bring these features to the old VCUs, it seems like a lot of work for a increasingly small percentage of their owners (given how well the 1.2 line has been selling).

Yes and they would likely see it as potentially cannibalizing future sales too. Ultimately the market is limited and inducing repeat sales is a balancing act.

My bike updated to 1.7.1, automatically again. This time it was during charging the bike slow - not sure if that was intentional, but IMO it would make sense if doing it automatically to do it during (or right after) charging. Obviously you can't ride the bike with the charger plugged in so that would be rather safe. Nevertheless having the option I would have skipped this update as it broke the SVAG app - pretty annoyed about that :(

O no!
Are you on an EX or MX1.2?
Just wondering if the MX 1 will also get cut off from Svag.

I have an EX on 1.7.1 and Svag still works. I always have to restart the phone sometimes twice to get Svag to connect
Interesting. I assume you mean to restart the phone where the Svag app is installed? Was it like this before or just with the introduction of 1.7.1? I connected with Svag before I started charging the bike (still on 1.7.0) and when I came back the next day it wouldn't work anymore - it says "connected" but doesn't show any data. That's how I actually figured the bike was updated to 1.7.1.

Yes it was the same before. Svag will always open but to get the "connect" button to show, I have to restart the Stark phone.
You can just turn Bluetooth off on your stark phone so it disconnects from the bike.
The bike will only connect to one phone at a time, so if it’s already connected to the stark phone, you can’t connect with Svag.

I don't understand. There is only one phone, the Stark. Do you mean turn bluetooth off, then on again because that just worked when the Svag "connect" button did not show.

Sounds like you have Svag installed on your Stark phone, so yes, you just need to get Svag connected before the Stark app connects.
In my case, I usually use Svag on my iPhone, so I usually turn the Stark phone off before connecting Svag on my iPhone
