The key to tracking Alta's in the wild is to look for the single tire track, telltale signs of a wheelie, and the extra deep ruts of hard wheel spin. It's well known that Alta's are more comfortable on one wheel and love to roost. But you're right, those buggers are quiet and are quite shy around loud engines.
