The coolant system is only for the speed controller and motor, the battery is air cooled...

It has to to with the battery. No coolant in there.

While this statement is fully theoretical but very personally concerning. If & when my bike needs operational parts & the recent instance of the local previous Alta dealer telling me to pack sand when trying to order a part....

Getting a thermal warning at 75mph on the highway is actually most likely the motor itself overheating, not the battery, especially with an R pack. The motor is cooled by the liquid cooling system.
