Im going to be starting my 1st build here in the next week or so and Im kinda lost when it comes to the electronics. More specifically contactors, pre charge resistors, main kill switches and things along that line. I could really use some help with parts suggestions. Still not 100% on what controller to use either but so far its either votol, fardriver, or 3schul. If anyone could help guide me along here I would really appreciate it! TIA!

Planning on just a fun dirtbike to mess around on. Have 2 young kids so im linited on time to ride and places as well so if i can get a couple of hours in at a time i think ill be satisfied. Looking for roughly 30+ kw to keep from getting bored of it. Basically 250f power levels. Hope that helps.

That helps a lot. For a fun dirt bike in that power range, I’d try to keep the electrical side as simple and robust as possible the first time around.

A contactor, precharge resistor/circuit, main fuse, kill switch, and a properly sized bus setup are all worth doing right from the start. At 30kW+, wiring, connectors, and pack layout matter just as much as the controller choice.

Between those controller options, I’d pick based on what support, tuning info, and proven builds you can actually find for your motor and voltage. A setup that’s slightly less “ideal” on paper but well documented usually makes a first build a lot easier.

If you post your target voltage, battery chemistry, and motor choice, people here can probably give much more useful parts suggestions.
