IMO, the only reason to get a wide rear tire is for a better profile for cornering. The bike is so light, it doesn't really matter how much torque you have, you're just lifting the front tire. I put a 140 on the rear and have never lost traction even for a millisecond on the street.

Finally got the new supermoto wheels. Ended up going with 5” rear with forged rather than spoke for less maintenance. First set with conti attack 2 tires. First day out and what a difference from ripping the street on the dirt pirelli’s. Nice to have balanced tires for sure.

Mode 5 set to 80hp and 100% regen breaking. Very smooth ride but felt like power was held back and engine breaking not as strong. High today was 50F when riding so wondering if needs a jacket?

Going to try this tomorrow to see if notice any difference.

No regrets on putting the biggest rear tire on it. Was easy enough to install. Just unbolt the chain guards to make install a little easier.

what is that plastic on the battery?

i think you will like a lot the new portable charger, you hear of it right?

nice build man, are the forged wheels more heavy than the spoke ones? that ones are the "Rogue" model right?

sorry for so many questions

I add some reflective bubble insulation around the battery. Cheap and easy to cut/shape. According to Stark’s Sam AI, the battery only has a cooling system but not a heater so I figured I’d see if this helps to keep it from getting too cold when riding in cold weather. I went for a ride today to see if the power and regen were more like I felt a month ago when I last got to ride and it still felt like it was de-tuned. Not sure what’s up. I thought maybe it was the battery was too cold. Too bad we don’t have access to more advanced telemetry to see what’s up. I wonder if they sent out a software update that did this? It is smooth power and regen but I like the more raw feel. Could also be now I’m on super moto wheels and can ride more to the limit of the bike’s output but I swear something is definitely different. That said, today was a total blast. So much fun on these new wheels and tires. Favorite part is pulling wheelies exiting the corners.

I got Warp9 forged rogue in blue. A tribute to my past two Aprilia’s with blue forged wheels. I read they are lighter weight. The big selling point for me was they match pretty close to my old wheels and no maintenance of the spokes.

I got them from custom moto wheels rather than directly from Warp9. The customer service of Custom Moto Wheels was top notch and heard people having issues with Warp9 not sending out the right parts. The first wheels I got where made wrong but CMW took care of it and they were great to work with so no regrets.

I did see the new Stark SM version and can’t wait for the portable smaller charger. I’m glad I was wrong about them likely not coming out with that version but they didn’t integrate the charger into the bike like people were hoping for. Does looked like they are giving people a great value though with sumo wheels and upgraded shocks, brakes, triple clamp. Fun time to be alive and have funds for these toys.

I'm pretty sure that the battery doesn't have an active cooling system that senses the temperature and adjusts it: it only has air cooling via fins.

The wheel diameter, as you surely know, affects the acceleration of the bike. Your previous rear wheel was a 140/80-18 (noticed it in some of your piuctures) and now you have 160/60-17, so the diameter went from 681 to 624 mm, which is an 8% reduction. Since the force transmitted to the ground is the torque divided by the wheel radius, both the acceleration and the regen braking are expected to be stronger; you also have better grip to transmit them to the ground, so you should feel them even more.

I got Warp9 forged rogue in blue. [...] I read they are lighter weight.
Especially considering that we are talking about an EV of which you want to maximize the range, the weight is IMO pretty important. In the formula of the energy used to rotate an object, the radius of any mass spinning around the center is squared, so in general it's more important to reduce the distance of the masses far from the center than to reduce the overall weight. I like that you have eliminated the tube, since it's located the farthest from the wheel center. It's also good that the rim is wider but smaller in diameter, for the same reason: in general a reduction in diameter more than makes up for an increased width. Now, of course we should know the exact weights of tyres, tubes, etc. but probably overall it's an improvement. The only thing that can generate some more drag is the increased grip, but that one is obviously an improvement for bike control.

I think Stark mount a 140 for a reason, maybe for Weight saving and still good performance, a 160 seems a bit extreme for a SM with 40kg less than the competition (husq 701 and KTM 690 smc r)

Maybe I'll go with 150 then, I'm not sure, I wanna get good grip and also save range with lighter wheels. I don't know how much of a difference there is between a 150 and 160 on 5" in terms of grip, and weight, or I could go 4'5" and 150 I'm waiting for the portable charger though before moving to SM.

i think there is no BIG difference, 150 should be more than enough even on a track... New charger will be amazing, im waiting for it too. Also im waiting to purchase the wheels, should have a very good price and they are from Excel, so good brand in house
