There were a few mentions about how this was supposed to be a dead engine start and it was not. Even Cody Webb brought it up
During the race. Had it actually been chances are Ty would have been out front first since the Alta has an unfair advantage. They wouldn’t have been able to avoid camera time then.

Oh well... we will just have to wait a little longer to conquer the world.

I wish the Erzberg results were better, but that will not change how much I enjoy riding the Alta at my local tracks.

I was expecting better of RedBull as far as coverage. After all, they publicized the hell out of the Straight Rhythm performance and for this not one single shot of Ty? I call shenanigans.

All I can say is I am very proud of Ty and Lyndon for a great performance and glad to see Alta investing in the racing scene which will pay dividends in improved technology, bike setup and sales.

The internal combustion engine has served well for many years but it is time to step up to electric and Alta is right there at the leading edge.

Go Alta!

Does anyone actually know the blow by blow of the race day run by Ty. Like how far he made it before the battery went dead. Also what was the deal at the start about dead engine start. I would have thought he could have had it blinking green at the start. Watched the whole live feed not a single clip of the Alta at any of the covered sections. You would have thought since Lyndon said he was in 16th while his battery was still going they could have showed something.

I heard checkpoint 8 was the last one he got to.

The coverage was disappointing to say the least. If you watched the beginning of the race while they were walking down the front row interviewing people they were literally RIGHT NEXT to Ty. You could see his front fender, then they decided to go back and talk with the amateurs and when they panned over you could for a split second see Ty looking at them like "seriously?". Three brief mentions and not one single frame of him riding.

I realize they had no obligation to give Alta any camera time, but it was certainly a significant talking point of the race and their apparent effort to ignore them is frustrating IMO. I'm going to call them out and say the lack of a dead engine start was intentional to keep Alta from having any camera time.

I am attaching the final results. Up until that point (checkpoint 8) Ty was in the first 20 riders, and than disaster struck 😉

I think Alta was very brave to enter the Erzbergrodeo, but they should have calculated a little better. Being stranded in the middle of the race with no battery, is hardly good publicity for this new technology.

I am also looking forward to hear more tech details about what went on there.

The red bull coverage was truely lacking, and did not mention Alta. However, we have to remember that although we find the electric bikes so interesting, most Erzbergrodeo fans don't really care much about them.

BTW, What is a dead engine start? Did Ty actually had to go through the starting ptocedure of the bike? Really?Screenshot_20180604-185023.png

I think the team was counting on ripping the holeshot based on a dead engine start and it didn't work out that way. He did say he wasn't ready and I'm not sure what he meant by that. Since it is clearly an unfair advantage for the Alta they can hardly complain or it will just sound like they are a bunch of sore losers.

The first part of that race is wide open (battery draining) even the gas bikes were stoping for fuel throughout the race. I heared that they were planning a battery change at some point in the race. I quess it was a bad calculation on distance. It would’ve been an interesting to see how far the second bike (Lyndon) would’ve made it just in map one on one battery. It would be hard for a racer to stay in map one during the race. That way if Ty would of had trouble before the battery change Lyndon might of been able to continue on. If not the data from Lyndon ride could of been helpful for next year. 👍Gotta give them great props for even trying this race.👍

The Formula EV series' got this stuff down pat. Those guys can calculate almost down to the track section when they'll run out of juice! Of course, they have onboard telemetry constantly updating their discharge models in the pits. I'm surprised Alta didn't try to use some basic telemetry via cell phone or something. Maybe there's rules against communication between riders and crew. But even a simple "enduro" type display could have given the rider warnings to "back off" and conserve battery. Perhaps Alta had all that and it was simply impossible given a reasonably competitive discharge rate.

I heard he had to do the hill twice due to a downed rider. That could have been the last culprit as they were supposedly close to the stage area.

I don’t know about factory edition but you might be able to pick up two MXRs up in the UK 🇬🇧 pretty cheap. ( two soon? )
