Use a Trail Tech Ride Computer Instead of the App!

The ride app sucks. Inconsistent ride recording and the statistics are wrong because the speed/distance sensor is based on motor RPM, not the front wheel rotation. When the rear wheel loses traction and spins, the app thinks you're going faster and when the wheel locks up it thinks you're stopped. It isn't even calibrated properly for my 18" tire and reads slower than actual speed by roughly 5%. The ride distance, average speed, and max speed numbers are always incorrect, so I bought a Trail Tech ride computer and mounted it to the front wheel. Buy the KTM version, the sensor screws into the front brake caliper housing using the included threaded hole and there is a special hole in the front disc for the magnet+circlip. Now I have proper ride data and an ODO that works!

How good are the trail techs, I have a vapor version on my husaberg 510.
I put a small gps speedo on my ev bike as I need to keep odometer reading on going from dash replaced for law makers here In Australia.
See pic I wish the gps lead wasn't like 2m long.

Do you have part numbers for the sensor and magnet? I have a motogadget I just installed to run my lights etc, it would be great to get the distance function working.

Steve, Thanks for the tip on the Trail Tech Endurance II. Got from Amazon for $120. Trail Tech part #202-111. Comes with everything you need. Go to Trailtech.net for additional/spare parts. I installed it slightly differently to keep the head unit lower and more compact, Drilled a hole in bracket, used a longer bolt, put clamp to left of front brake perch, wrapped sensor cable and front brake hose tightly with electrical tape then spray with silicone to slide well, works fine. I will be hack-sawing off the excess bracket cutting just below blue tape.

Off-subject tip: If you dump it and tweak the front end it is probably the rubber handlebar mounts that need to be reset. Remove phone cradle (one very overly complicated fabrication if I must say) remove bar clamps and push out rubber cones, put back together and should now be true. Also check to see if phone cradle got tweaked. Mine did slightly checking on a flat surface such as glass or granite. Made a jig to straighten it. File off the two nubs to check flatness, you will see what I mean. BTW: no, I didn't crash, she fell off slippery stand when washing her!

Gotta say, this bike is amazing!
