I am looking into buying a set of supermotos for my ex, and was looking for others with experience with that setup. Is anybody running the stock sprocket sizes with 17 inch supermotos? If so, what have you seen with your range? Has it gone up or down? I mainly commute to work currently 12ish miles each way at roughly 35-40 mph zones and get back and forth with 65-70% left. I would like to keep the stock sprocket sizes to i can easily swap wheels when I take the bike out for actual dirt/enduro riding.

Your speedo will be off by about 8% luckely that's exactly what a 13 instead of 12 does for you.

For actual dirt enduro riding a 13 or 14 is betteranyways. The 12 is wayyy to steep for anything exept Gnarly stuff.

You will be limited to like 60mph with 17" rear wheel and stock gearing. I use 15/44 sprockets on supermoto setup and 14/47(or whatewer the stock rear is) in enduro. Changing the front sprocket and adjusting the chain takes like 1 min extra when changing wheels. Best timesaver is running 320mm rotor on dirt wheels also so you don't need to change the brake adaptor.

So you would recommend a 13 front and what for the rear on a supermoto setup?

I like the idea of not having to take off the caliper adapter so I will for sure be doing that.

I use 13 on the street so my speedo remains true with stock rear sprocket.

If the speedo wasn't an issue i would go 15 on the front and stock or smaller on the rear.
It will get you better range as well.

Have you noticed a large change in range with that setup? I dont think it would be an issue with my commute, but more just curious if it would cause a massive drop

i converted my EX to SM and with the stock 12/48 the bike was getting very high rpms at low speed, and i mount a 15/47 that is the stock set up for the SM model and the bike feels good, i get better range and more top speed of about 154kmh with gps

for the brakes i choose probably the most expensive but most convenient solution: All stock and the EX set up but a secondary full brake set up on SM... 320mm rotor, wheel spacer, axial to radial bracket, Stark's Brembo Master cylinder and an Accossato caliper, (the Stark brembo caliper doesnt fit, much wider and it touches the spokes even with spacers)

with a secondary full brake set up i "just" need to change wheels, dismount the radial adapter, put the stock one and dismount the master cylinder and caliper together, is very easy, just have to unhook it from the front plateholder

*Funny story*:
When I tried to install the stock Brembo front brake caliper and saw it wouldn't fit, I sanded it but I went too far and broke the caliper. Oil leaked... there's no solution, so I ended up using it as a door handle for my garage door. I've attached a photo jajajaja
