Tried each map for speed comparison on track.
At the table. Top speed
Map 1. 44. 48
Map 2. 47. 52
Map 3. 47. 52
Map 4. 50. 52
Map 1 a little slower. Not much difference between the Maps 2&3. Map 4 get you there faster.

Interesting... I think someone from Alta quipped that the top speed is the same in all maps. Maybe that's because it is the same motor's max RPM. But 52mph is not the top speed on the MXR! So why is it 52mph in this test in all maps besides Map 1? Interesting.

Yes, I would say max motor RPM is the limiting factor for overall speed. It's just how fast you get there that the different maps alter.

And I have some doubts that 70 is really the actual top speed these bikes can do with stock gearing, based on my couple of GPS comparison tests. It seems the displayed speed is quite generous versus what my GPS calculated, but there is room for error in my limited test.

My recollection was the displayed speed was more than 10% off, but I may be misremembering by now.

And I have since quit caring about what speed I am actually doing and just enjoying the ride now.

Philip This was a on track comparison (Seat Dyno) with Go-Pro GPS Tracking. Map 1 takes more distance to get there. See post MXR Top Speed Test in videos. Top speed on my bike is roughly 73 on a open road in map 4 With 14-53 gearing. I’ll have to try a open road comparison of top speed for each map.

Nice work, and nice riding, you MX/SX dudes are crazy. And the hand signals for the power level - excellent, made it very easy to follow along. Looking forward to additional top speed runs.

@Fog 25 , are you racing Mammoth this year? its been on my bucket list and i think i'm going to do it this year. Probably 30B
Most likely will try to make it back up there this year. Depends on my old body and the bike.
30B class is pretty stacked with fast guys. First time up there you might want to look at the 30C. Check out last years lap time and see if there’s anyone you ride with for comparison. If we both go will have to make a Alta Pit. I don’t know what generator you were using the carbureted ones have a problem running in the high-altitude you might need to change your jetting.
