What leads me to believe that VINs are somewhat arbitrary, is it doesn't seem that the bikes VIN has anything to do with when it was built.
There is absolutely no way Stark were able to store over 1500 bikes before they got to mine, their factory simply isn't big enough... I should know, I go past it every time I go shopping! I also had it confirmed that at the time they had no off site storage.
The VIN is more likely tied to when you ordered.
Nah it can't be tied to when you order cause there are some ppl that order after me with an earlier VIN. Mine is delivered now, VIN 2400's.
My best guess is they started assigning VINs to early orders then changed their mind and only assigned VIN's right before shipment. That's how some have 400 VINs and only just go their bike, Many of the early VIN bikes would have been placed in shipping crates to the US. So many early number VINs are still yet to be delivered.

Perhaps they produce batches, ie 50 grey bikes with hard suspension, then 50 red bikes with soft. who knows. but it does seem all over the place. They are definitely struggling with the volume of order, their support is slow, getting documents to customers is way too slow and unorganised. The logistics network they chose was cheap and it shows. Stark simply have too much to do and not enough people doing it right now.

IIRC they assign VIN when you pay in full? They also reserve some series for dealers and must have put aside some specifically for US shipments.

Currently at US dealers there are VIN series with consecutive numbers in the 200, 500, 800 and 1000 range.

I ordered at launch and paid in full early Jan and didn't get a VIN assigned until a few days before my bike was shipped.

There is no way my order had 2400 in front of it, and I know I paid in full earlier than many others. It seems there are a few early VIN bikes in the US still unpaid. But maybe this is due to orders through Ekho and financing deals, people cancelling orders due to the wait etc.

It's getting ridiculous. If I haven't received mine by the latest ship date I MAY just tell them to stick it. Our riding season is just about over and I ordered the bike 6 months ago. You'd think someone from KTM is running the show.

At that point you might has well inquire with large Stark dealers shipping nationwide like Lithium powersports or Kaplan then cancel your original order.
I believe some have been able to "transfer" their Varg MX order to a dealer so they didn't lose money at all.

I'm assuming there's some kind of drama happening with the west coast US deliveries. Traffic at the port in LA is down 35%. It doesn't make sense to me that it would take three weeks to take a container off a ship, move the contents to a nearby warehouse, and deliver a box 10 miles away where I live. I've been trying to get them on the phone to see if I can just drive down to the warehouse and pick up the box. However, just like with everyone else on this thread, both Stark and Ekho have been completely incommunicado for a couple weeks.

My Stark delivery estimate recently moved from May 1 to June 1 which I thought was ridiculous since the boat had already arrived, but maybe it will take them five weeks to get the box moved 10 miles.

Question for US deliveries: I've noticed some folks are getting them delivered directly to their home vs. a dealership.

Even if it has to go through a dealership, I'd rather assemble myself than a first timer in the shop there. But the local dealer told me it has to be assembled to title it.

Is this a state by state thing? Any experience on this?

My dealer told me that, but they didn’t have it ready when I arrived to pick it up, so they decided to let me take it unassembled.
I would say some states might have requirements, but mostly I think it’s by dealer policies.

My EX arrived into a local port last month, they now shifted the delivery date to June. How can it take over a month to deliver it locally? I’m starting to think they’re changing who gets the bikes from the current batch, however the VINs are already assigned?

I would think it won’t, mine said same thing and it showed up today. Stark site still says June 8th expected date

I just did the remote signing session with Ekho. They can’t even say definitively if my bike has made it to Port of LA or is en route.

Meanwhile Stark is telling me via support emails that I should be hearing from the hauler at the beginning of next week to schedule delivery.

Purchased and paid in full on December 16 (announcement day). I'm based in Los Angeles and I got called 4/30 from a blocked number by John the "shipping broker" from New York last week. He said the shipper should be reaching out soon but they have been MIA and now John will not pick up or return my calls. I was previously quoted March 3, April 15 and April 17 and now dashboard shows June 1.

Stark needs to be more transparent on what is going on here as they are damaging their brand each day they keep stringing us along.

NA EX. He says that he's had it a month.
Also replied in comments he ordered it through his dealer and was ready to take one if his first batch, no matter the color.
All dealers can't be served at the same time, Lithium powersports in Florida recently advertised a new batch, probably a bit of luck on his part and depending on port of arrival as well (east coast seems to have been served weeks ahead of west coast?).
His first EX vid is from April 18th, he probably got it only a few days before (he publishes very fast after his races and very regularly) that so he might have misspoken when he said a couple of months.
