Charged Cycle Works - Stark Varg vs Ultra Bee Trail Ride Test

And I am still surprised why not many more riders grab a used Alta for half the price of a Varg and tear the single tracks with it. Alta's suspension is better for enduro riding than the Varg's which is motocross oriented (very stiff). Weight is about the same. Range is 10-15% better on the...

    Throtle Problem Alta

It only happens when the battery is over 90% charged. So I don't fully charge it.

    Throtle Problem Alta

If you are experiencing the same throttle issue as I did, than replacing the throttle will not help unfortunately. please read the following thread - https://electricdirtriders.com/threads/bike-is-on-but-throttle-not-responding.2737/#post-32871

Electric Motion Escape XR! Ultra bee competitor?

Also had the Oset. it is a much cheaper made bike with brushed (!) motor and lower quality components. the EM machines are in a different league.

Electric Motion Escape XR! Ultra bee competitor?

The Escape will be a high quality model, that's for sure. Only thing I dislike about it is the low voltage battery (48v) they use, as opposed to the 72v pack of the Ultra bee. Higher voltage systems are more efficient, and usually run cooler. I guess the 48v is for legal and homologation reasons.

starks 6hr range may be possible

exactly. In slow technical hard enduro riding, these electrics last forever. same experience with my Alta.

    Looking for used Alta motor

I'd leave the spare Alta parts for Alta riders to keep their bikes running. So many other electric motors out there.

    MXR making noise.

Chain is in good condition? Not rubbing on anything? Gear oil level is fine (can be seen through the motor gear cover window)?

Media Review Stark Varg Range Test by Tucker at ECR

Basically, this is what Alta did with Erzberg fw - thermal limits were raised, and perhaps also cell's voltage. Stock Alta also stop the charging process at 4.05v per cell if I remember correctly, for the same reasons quoted above

Media Review Stark Varg Range Test by Tucker at ECR

Those who ride enduro need even less power than MX. When riding single tracks, rocks & and technical terrain, the added power is unnecessary. What I am saying, this is a great time to buy a used Alta. You still get an incredible bike, at a fraction of a cost.

Media Review Stark Varg Range Test by Tucker at ECR

The Stark is definately more powerful, but it is mostly unusable power. The Alta do not lack power. That's for sure. Most Stark riders I see on youtube settle on 40-50 HP. That's exactly what Alta offers (42-50 HP).

Media Review Stark Varg Range Test by Tucker at ECR

At 2:33 into the video, you can hear him say what sums it up for me: "roughly 10% better range than what I was getting on my Alta Redshift". We all know the Redshift so well, so this estimate (even if not very accurate) visualise for all Alta owners, the difference between the bikes, which is...

I had the local Rekluse importer (Israel), that I bought it from, install it for me. Went without any problem.

    Left hand rear brake

I use the Rekluse in my Redshift EX for few years. Works well and lever can be adjusted for distance. Stopping power is OK, not super biting, but does the job.

Alta throttle - all there is to know

This guy have a YouTube channel where he reviews, from an electrician's point of view, different DIY emotorcycles components. He is great. However, he is mostly into homebuilt & Surron type components, and not Alta & Stark specs. That's why he is surprised at the super high quality of this...

    Hard Enduro test

This is my favorite terrain and type of riding. I use on my Alta - map 2, PSI 8 in the rear wheel, gummy tires, and the stock EX suspension which is very soft and suitable for hard enduro (not for MX). it climbs effortlessly (almost...) Here is an example -

    Hard Enduro test

I agree. the Varg's KYB suspension are tuned for MX, making them quite stiff for enduro riding. that also contribute to the lack of traction.
