Street Legal ALTA MX in Colorado?

So then how do EXs and EXRs get plates? Weird.

    Alternative Fuel Vehicle Licensing Fees

They tried to implement a similar thing here in OK but the courts struck it down. It was to be a flat $100 fee on EVs and $30 on hybrids. I'm sure they've try again. GA's fee is high!

Ty Tremaine To Race Redshift EXR In 2018 Endurocross Series

Dumb question, but won't he be racing an EXR?

Alta SM and Supermoto Track Day Questions

Sorry! :) Many people see those public charging pedestals and they call them "chargers" but that isn't true. I think it's more important for us to use the correct language in the Alta world where some of the bikes have offboard chargers while some have onboard chargers. If you have an...

    NRC fender eliminator

Welcome to riding a rolling computer! This is getting more and more common in all kinds of vehicles these days. My Dad has a late-model BMW and randomly one of the doors will not unlock with the rest of them. He has had it to the dealer a number of times, the area rep has looked at it, no one...

Alta SM and Supermoto Track Day Questions

If you charge the battery before going out the battery will still be warm. Also, the act of riding will keep the battery warm. You'll only have a problem if you have a long drive with the bike in the back of a pickup or letting it sit overnight in the cold so the battery is cold-soaked.

Alta SM and Supermoto Track Day Questions

All of the tracks I ride at have 240V plugs somewhere (garages, RV parking spaces, etc) so you should be able to fast charge. If you're going to switch back and forth between your 600 you'll have no problem doing a full day. IMO you should wait for the SMR. I would hope they would switch the...

    Inverter Throttle Fault

Not just EVs. Even ICE vehicles are rolling computers now. In today's vehicles, if you can't decode the CANBUS you are sunk. They need to completely revamp and come out with OBDIII and have it cover all vehicles regardless of propulsion. I posted this somewhere else but I don't think any of...

    Inverter Throttle Fault

The way I look it, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. They could have followed Tesla's path and kept the sales channel in-house but that has its own problems. It's much slower to roll out company-owned stores and they have to endure the cash burn of the overhead. We don't...

Bad news for aftermarket? The battery management tech.

Thanks for taking the time to nose around the pack and post all of that! I haven't read about Tesla doing anything like this. Perhaps it isn't needed with their larger packs and liquid cooling?

Maybe a strategy to minimize wheelspin? Make the bike feel a bit more like an ICE bike?

Bad news for aftermarket? The battery management tech.

Interesting idea and way to make a small battery more fexible. I think that in general the entire vehicle industry is moving this way. The days of buying a new pipe and re-jetting the carb(s) are way over. That being said, if there is enough demand, people will figure out how to reverse...

MXR --Max power limited warning anyone else?

Completely agree and you're right, we won't really know unless Alta exposes that data to us. On the Tesla Roadster, only the battery is liquid cooled. The motor and inverter are air-cooled. On hot days we get power-limited all the time due to inverter over temp. At track days owners will put...

Owner's Review 2019 Alta EXR Ride Review: Midnight ride under the stars.

An Open Petition to Alta to let us create our own maps (and to modify Map 3)

I agree with @bluefxstc Just let the rider build their own matrix using the Mild-High settings in each category.

MXR --Max power limited warning anyone else?

My guess is that it's limiting due to battery temp. It sounds like you ride hard (map 4) which generates heat, then charging at 240V also generates heat, then back to riding, repeat. 70-80F is not very hot but the battery doesn't have much chance to cool down, and without active battery cooling...

Updated the firmware on my EX today

Yes, but it sounds like the earlier EX firmware had the regen settings of the SM. Perhaps they did this because they are both road bikes? Perhaps (since they "fixed" it now) it was just an oversight?

Updated the firmware on my EX today

Sounds like they're making the firmware agree with the manual. See this thread: Regen on different maps?!
