    Cogging noise at faster speeds?

Because these bikes are so quiet compared to a typical ICE dirt bike you will hear all sorts of 'strange and worrying noises'. Most of them existed on your ICE bikes, you just couldn't hear them. On the plus side, you can even hear the tires slide on dirt which can be a riding aid if you...

Sold 2019 Alta Redshift EX-R and a ton of spares for sale - 10k or best offer

That crossed my mind. Keep the spares and the suspension, sell the close to stock bike. A road trip to Colorado just seems a lot more challenging than it did six or seven months ago. Plus, I am a realist. Once the bike made it here it probably wouldn't get sold.

This hasn't sold yet ?!? It's been 36 minutes ! I am seriously thinking about it and I already have two ALTAs. :ricky: This is an outstanding deal for someone.

Interest check - Alta fastener kit

+1 for me I would like as much of the hardware as possible without being absurdly expensive. Hopefully comparable to the Bolt Hardware Pro Packs or better. ( I'll throw out a range of $100, maybe $150 depending on contents? ). My primary objective would be to at least get spares of all the...

    2017 wont turn on

Correct. Possibly unclear wording on my part as I was focusing on the 9V battery replacement. I should have said ‘Once you get the bike to turn on if you need to upgrade the firmware you will need access to the software and cables.’

    2017 wont turn on

Additionally, based on the early 2019 thread I quoted earlier you don't need to the laptop or MultiTool software to replace the 9V battery (even though it is referenced in the official video). You should be able to swap the 9v lithium cell and if that was the problem the bike should wake up...

    2017 wont turn on

In a post long ago (07Feb2019) we were informed that you could take the following steps and avoid a lot of work when swapping the 9V battery .... Worst case here is the original ALTA video on the 9V battery replacement which requires removing the main battery. You probably want to watch this...

Rear Brake Pedal Pivot Bolt Missing Inner Bushing?

I have had the rear brake levers off and on both of my bikes at least a couple of times. I've never seen this binding issue. The bolt tightens down on the ferrule and the ferrule becomes a rigid pivot for the lever. The ferrule is slightly longer than the collar on the lever so that the...

Suspension Linkage - EXR / MXR Differences

Thanks everyone for the feedback and info. I have shied away from buying an SM because of all the taxes, annual registration fees, annual EV fees, and annual insurance cost of adding another street legal bike. That might still be the way to go. Or I'll just continue to swap the wheels on the...

Suspension Linkage - EXR / MXR Differences

Would an SM shock be a direct bolt-on to an MXR or EXR for a conversion to an SMR or are there also linkage and geometry differences? I assume the shock would significantly lower the rear of the bike ( if it fits ) and the forks would need to be adapted to match.

    TCMB371 Video Thread

That is cool riding at night under the lights. Sort of reminds me of night skiing in Colorado. I don't know if it would be the same on a MX track, but night skiing taught me to look further ahead and ski better because I couldn't really see the small bumps near my skis anyway. And I...

    New PRP Steering Damper

It looks like Scotts may not sell that low mount option anymore. However, seeing your pictures reminded me that the mount is very similar to the mount used by W.E.R. for their steering damper. They use a heim joint rod and a bracket which can be welded, riveted, or bolted to the...

    Electric clutch

I have found this maneuver to be quite easy and controllable in Map 1 or 2. Much easier than on my KTM. I make it a slower maneuver than on an ICE bike and rely on the enormous low speed torque to lift the front wheel while weighting the back. Just practice some in the open before you're up...

    New PRP Steering Damper

Yep, that is the standard mounting for the Showa and that's the way I have seen them on the Baja race bikes. A disadvantage of that mounting location is that it is impossible to adjust while riding the way you can with the Scotts, Ohlins, and PRP models. I suspect that is more of a potential...

    New PRP Steering Damper

Has anyone ridden with a Showa/Honda/Ride Engineering damper? I looked at this a while back thinking it might be easier to modify or build a mount for this than a Scotts damper. It seems to be mostly targeted for MX but they sell the 24mm version for offroad. Some of the Baja racers use...

    New PRP Steering Damper

Correct. High speed and low speed are defined by the angular speed that the handlebars are turning. The other advantage of the Scotts offroad damper design when riding in the woods (vs. MX) is that it has reduced resistance returning to center in the low speed damping. (BTW, the Scotts...
