    New place for display

Thanks for the response. Yes, my doctor definitely knows I am still riding and competing. That was a detailed part of our initial discussion. He told me that he selected the plate and installed it in a non-standard way because of that. Surgery took almost three hours. He is part of a...

Alta parts on back order...any one got any yet?

I ordered some parts at 9:00 ET the morning of datadog's post. My dealer has my CC info but I believe they used their own card/account for the order. My card has not been charged. They told me that they would charge me if/when they received confirmation that the parts were available...

    New place for display

Is that the "Heads Up" display? Glad the surgery went well. Recover quickly and keep the happy face. What made you decide to have the plate removed? I have a similar item installed although with twelve screws. Busted my clavicle in four places/five pieces. The bone healed quickly...

Go Go Charger, other chargers, adapters

I may not represent the majority, but my preference is a small, lightweight 110VAC charger that is compatible with the existing ALTA charging plug. Someone might be able to convince me that another solution is preferable, but I don't currently like the idea of searching for a charging station...

Display Guard - Protect it from crashes!

Looks great!! I will definitely buy one.

    Broken display - solution?

Same for me. Also, @Trialsman definitely make sure you're not losing money on these when/if you decide to make them available. Whatever the price it will be cheap insurance to guard against a dead bike.

Battery care -- winter riding and hibernation

Great info in that article. Anyone know how this works with Tesla vehicles in cold climates? Do they have a built-in heater to raise the temperature before charging? Sounds like I need to find my old electric blanket for those winter camping trips where I might want to recharge the EXR.

    BAD NEWS

Nothing in the following comments changes the current situation at ALTA, but it seems that the rumor and speculation mill is getting even more out of control in less informed places than it is here at AOF, so I thought I would try to throw a little water from the peanut gallery on those less...

MotoVlog 2 - Dubya World Vet Championships at Glen Helen

Great stuff. Thanks for taking the time to record and put all of this together. It's fun to watch the time on the track and also reminds me why I don't ride motocross. It's also interesting to hear your description of the races and the good and not so good aspects of each moto. And I can...

Media Review Visor Down - Alta'd Reality review

I believe they stated the EU requirement correctly. I had read some of this when I was dealing with ABS problems on my BMW Adv. From BOSCH Mobility Solutions (BOSCH manufactures the ABS systems for many OEMs): This is consistent with other technical literature on the topic.

    BAD NEWS

I am probably getting ahead of anyone's visibility with this question, but I'll ask anyway... Assuming that there will eventually be some broken bikes to cannibalize and therefore some used parts available, any idea if a dealer or anyone else will be able to use an ALTA laptop to "un-brick" a...

Any way to eliminate the key?

I agree that the headlight is normally not a concern for affecting range, but I think there is something off in the example. The halogen headlight plus incandescent tailight are at most about 70 watts total. At 13 volts this is about 5-1/2 amps not 50. If you carry this value though the...

    BAD NEWS

That is also the way Enduro Engineering made their protection for the KTM speedo/trip computers. The factory display fit inside the machined aluminum case. The case had holes in the bottom for wiring plus mounting tabs which replaced the OEM steel bracket. I have used those with great...

Gobbler Getter National Enduro Report from Alta Rider

Great report. Glad to hear the bike performed so well. Which mode were you using (1-4)? I have ridden that enduro a number of times so I have a good idea of the terrain. Depending on how they routed the course, some of the hills can be a challenge; i.e. the club will put a spectator area...

POLL - Have you had problems that required support from Alta Motors?

Those last few posts are potentially good news for some of us. I've ridden over 200 miles and quite a few charge cycles since the latest 15.1 firmware update with no problems. ------- Installed firmware: Redshift_EX_1_2_1_RC1 Redshift_MX_1_5_1_RC1 ------- This vehicle's firmware is currently...

Any way to eliminate the key?

I don't have insight into any legal requirements or all of the design purposes from ALTA, but I use it just like the kill switch on an ICE dualsport bike. The thumb switch is infinitely more convenient than the key when I want to turn off the bike for a very brief period of time; and would...

    BAD NEWS

After reading this I was curious and checked the ALTA Owner Portal where I registered my bike. It is still up, allowed me to login, and still has all of the relevant info for me and my bike.
