    Help with my road trip

@Geci, A reminder that many locations with large sand dunes will require flags on the bikes and it's a smart precaution even if they are not required. Definitely find out ahead of time. Sometimes you can buy them locally, however I wouldn't depend on it or you may waste a day trying to find...

My quest for a perfect Alta Redshift motocross suspension (Part 1)

Phillip, Glad it's working for you. Too bad you didn't get a chance to ride some of the tracks and trails at Highland Park (which is colocated with KTM World). The guys at KTM World have been reworking the suspensions on my KTMs for over ten years; both my single track woods bikes and my...

    Alta Error Codes

At 1:48 the video states that you must connect to the diagnostic laptop after replacing the 9v battery and reconnecting the main battery. Is this only if the firmware is not up to date or anytime the 9v battery is replaced?

    3D Print Models

Somebody should set up an ALTA 3D printing marketplace to help those of us who are technologically over-the-hill get some of these useful items. Has anyone tried the "Print a Thing" app and the distributed network to get a design printed?

Fox Raceway Main Track - Training for Mammoth Qualifiers

Thanks for putting these videos up. It looks like a lot of fun, however you have once again convinced me that I have no business riding at speed on any MX track. :muutt:

    Anaheim 2 Supercross Futures

Great stuff ! Mighty intimidating from the perspective of a woods rider. And holy cow, there were a lot of bikes and riders on the track in the heats. Almost seemed like the ALTA was too quiet in competition. Thanks for taking the time to edit and post this.

I'm locked in to race Supercross Futures at Anaheim 2!

Here is the Anaheim SX Futures track per their website:

Display Guard - Protect it from crashes!

No apology needed. I am sure everyone is simply (and understandably) anxious about busting the display on their bike and owning an inert, high tech sculpture. I greatly appreciate your initiative and effort to get these designed and made; and will continue to ride my EXR somewhat cautiously...

What Can an Alta NOT Do?

The Honda EU2000 is the generator I use. I have the ALTA rapid charger and a 110V adapter. It is not fast but I don't get any errors or have any problems. I have not tried to use it at higher altitudes.

What Can an Alta NOT Do?

Yes, this makes a fly and ride with one of the bikes for sale on the west coast rather difficult.

Lyndon Poskitt has parts for sale!

I believe Lyndon is actually in Africa (Namibia right now) continuing his Races2Places adventures. The situation is the same though; he is nowhere near whatever ALTA parts he may have.

Creative methods of charging the bike to say 50% after a ride

I have a method that doesn't require any technology. On the rare occasion that I think the bike will be unused for a couple of weeks, I let it charge to 100% and balance the cells, then I ride it to the grocery store and run some other errands until it is down to about 60%. One of the...

    SXS Skidplate/Slideplate

I noticed that when I ordered mine. They don't show it anywhere in the five page listing of "Full Plates". You need to go to the "ALTA" Product Category. ??? I lucked into finding it on my second or third attempt at the website.

24 Hours of Starvation Ridge in WA -- October 26 & 27, 2019 (new dates)

Look at the big handguards on some of the bikes in that first picture. They were expecting mud and cold. Something to think about as you plan for the race. And I think I said this in one of the the other 24 hour threads, but I'll repeat it here because sometimes it is easy to get caught up...

grinding from gears and slipping / cold weather

I don't know about YouTube, but the details from ALTA are on pages 76 through 79 of the owners manual. If you haven't already done so, you can download it from the RESOURCES section here at AoF or from the ALTA website. There is probably no need to flush or refill unless someone had the bike...

grinding from gears and slipping / cold weather

For those of you who have taken a closer look at the drivetrain internals than I have, what would happen if the coolant freezes? Hopefully nobody in the really cold climates is using water instead of antifreeze, but water turning to ice has an amazing ability to break things as it expands...

    Altas on Top Gear

I can't confirm or deny this, but I know that Matt Leblanc is a pretty skilled dirt bike rider. He's been riding since 8 years of age. He did a brief series on motorcycle racing quite a few years ago and in one segment was out riding with Rodney Smith, Mike Kiedrowski, and one other GNCC...

    Fat wheel

I have a little Yamaha BW80 2-stroke. It is a lot of fun. The tires are almost 8 inches wide! I've had it for decades. It has an auto-clutch so I use it when I am teaching kids to ride. It will haul me around the field surprisingly well and go up some pretty good hills. And I'm 6-3...

    Code 36 service required???

Somewhere earlier in this thread datadog told us that the MX/MXRs and the EX/EXRs are in different VIN sequences. I think we (hopefully) have determined that the battery issue was resolved before EXR production was started. I believe someone also said that the EXRs begin at 099 in the EX/EXR...
