A little bit about my 2008 YZ250F Electric Conversion

Same. Besides the low profit margins mentioned above, think of the upheaval of the industry. Significantly less revenue for the dealers due to lower maintenance, way less maintenance item sales (air filters, filter treatments, gear oil, antifreeze, spark plugs, spare parts, etc). Less revenue...

    Rivian Amazon delivery van spotted

I would imagine the sound coming from it could be easily modified, volume, track, turn it off, etc, or just disconnect the speakers if not. Depending on range, yes, an awesome Alta hauler.

Is that really the sound from the vehicle? Or is that audio added to the video? I hope it’s added to the video, that is horrendous Lol.

Alta Representing in the 2021 NMA Calendar

Chainsaws are not to be trifled with that is for sure. Each spring the nearest Forest Service office holds a chainsaw certification class. Classroom in the morning, out in the woods to be observed and graded while using your saw in the afternoon. If you pass you get a card for your wallet that...

Alta Representing in the 2021 NMA Calendar

Backpacks, that is a good point. Plenty of guys out here using backpacks, or rear cargo racks for their saws besides the fork mounts. The nice thing about the fork mounts are quick and easy access to the saw. Another consideration is top handle/climbing style or regular/longer handle style. I...

Alta Representing in the 2021 NMA Calendar

I'm no chainsaw expert, but most of the guys out here are using 14-20" saws, with most of them running 16 or 18" bars. The 20" is just too much saw to ride with for most, and the 12-14" saws take to long to nibble through the larger logs out here in the PacNW. I have a Stihl MS180 with a 16"...

Alta Representing in the 2021 NMA Calendar

There's a whole thread on saw mounts over on TT if you want some ideas: Pics of your fork mounted chainsaw carrier? Enduro Engineering also sells a mount, and there is a guy called Bill Dart that also sells them, although they look pretty easy to build if you have any fabrication skills.

Easy-to-follow battery charging protocol for weekend riding

I usually keep my MXR at 25 - 50% or so while it sits in the garage. I'll usually charge to 100% the night before I ride. I usually come home with 25 - 50% or so SOC and let it sit at that level until the evening before the next ride when I will charge it up to 100%. If I deplete it anywhere...

Alta Representing in the 2021 NMA Calendar

Fork mounted chainsaw mounts are standard fare up here in the PacNW. Every late spring into the summer an army of volunteers fan out like ants on speed in the mountains clearing trail. Often on multiuser trails. Pretty amazing what those peeps accomplish every year.

Alta Representing in the 2021 NMA Calendar

Just got my NMA (Northwest Motorcycling Association) 2021 calendar in the mail today and see an Alta is featured in December's photo. Very cool! If I had to guess, I would say that is Miller Peak, but it could be any number of incredible view points up here in the PacNW. Would be fun to know...

    Subframe Crack. Worth Replacing?

I would be tempted to try some 2 part epoxy on that area, being careful with the prep and curing (somewhere warm and dry). Then test ride it a few times and see how it goes. Maybe take it easy on the jumping and build up to your normal jumps carefully checking it as you go? If mine ever fails...

SUPER ALTA , super duke meets Alta sm conversion

Very nice work, it looks killer and I don't know how anyone could keep their license with that, Lol. I can hardly control myself on the street with my MXR with 21/18 wheels and full knobbies, just too much fun to grip it and rip it and hoon out on the way to the grocery store.

    'This isn't working'

Me in the morning reading the breaking news that Alta went out of business after I decided in the middle of the night, the night before, to finally buy an Alta after wringing my hands over the purchase for MONTHS. What the hell God?! Lol.

    Top Fairing screws

I usually heat up the stubborn Loctite'd fasteners, works pretty good. Propane torch, heat gun, whatever's laying around. If there are parts nearby that may melt, then a soldering iron applied to the fastener works nicely. Gentle movement back and forth to free it up usually will get it moving...

How many looking at the Rivian R1T to haul your Alta?

I believe @Mark911 is our mad scientist Code 36 fixer. Its certainly not me! See here: Mark911 can fix anything, if asked nicely I was just offering up some additional considerations regarding the fix.

Sold Package Deal 2018 MXR(new), 2018 MXR (demo with code 36), 2019 EXR (demo)

Don't forget shipping charges, plus might be some hoops to jump through with shipping the battery. Still, $150-300 to fix the battery, well worth it, a bargain really considering the work involved and the specialized knowledge needed to do the job.
