Ouch, no need to rub it in :D Sorry to say I have no affiliation with Alta, just want to be able to charge from charge points so I can do longer rides.

MVetter, where are you located and what are you looking for when you say “people to talk to”? I’m in SF, if that’s close to you I could bring a bike by. I’d be up for any sort of solution I could take with me that would allow charging from a J1772 adapter or some other public charge station...

Will probably be a few weeks before I get out to the trails next. Will update with my experience after though. Nothing stopping Mike from unleashing his honest opinion right now though :D

Anyone know if any of the various Honda HPSD steering damper mounts for others bikes will work on the Altas? Something like '00-'12 Steering Head Stabilizer Bracket Kit for KTM Controls - Ride Engineering, Inc.

I picked this up off of Mike, just wanted to follow up for anyone interested in buying from him in the future, super nice guy, shipped fast, communicated well, gave me tracking number same day, packaged everything up nicely. (y)

I looked into the CA credit’s but they are awfully finicky, you have to make less money than most who can afford to buy an Alta, and you have to keep it 30 months or you end up having to repay a portion of the rebate.

Already live in SF, and believe me I’ve thought about it, but I really enjoy my current gig. If they made the software and adapter available without dropping 3k on their laptop ($500 or less and I’m in) then I’d end up reversing it and writing something anyway.

Just a wild guess but the SM may be able to do without a rim lock because it runs over 30lbs of pressure instead of <15 like you do in the dirt.

I wonder what’s with the special laptop? I would think they could sell the adapter and software even if compatibility was limited to a single laptop, having to buy the actual laptop from them is a bit odd.

Not sure if you have a place you can rent a bike easily but I definitely can’t ride with any friends unless they also have Altas on the street but if I want to ride with friends on ICE bikes I can just rent a bike for $120/day or so and for once a month or two with no maintenance costs it ends...

I have an SM I’m about to sell as I just upgraded to an EXR. They’re both awesome commuters, but unlike say a Zero, Alta folks don’t really want you doing longer rides on it. Trying to put together any sort of real ride will take more planning than your Brammo as you can’t even use those...

Bottom out is bottom out, it’ll happen sooner or later to all of us.

I have one in a box I picked up and was going to put on either my SM or EXR. Looking at it I think it would be alright off road if I just moved the license plate back some but I am not 100% sure of that. Will try it out next time I feel like working on the bike a bit, might be as simple as...

User reported bug: When decelerating hard and sliding forward on the seat, if the rear wheel is locked up and the user inadvertently rolls the throttle forward while grabbing front brake the rear wheel starts spinning backwards :D

I so badly want to program in more virtual flywheel effect. I NEVER want reduced power, even in map one, give me all 50hp, eventually. But I may want map1 to deliver the power slow as hell, like an old air cooled 350F and when the wheel leaves the ground I may want it to spin up very slowly...

Great to hear everyone else’s front brakes are working well. I’ll just go ahead and bleed mine to be sure when I am putting the LHRB kit on.

Even with the plate easily removable it’s a show-stopper for my EXR as sometimes I bottom the bike out when playing around the city (I like to drop off of any loading docks I see, can’t resist).
