    220v/110v Charging Question.

If you have a meter available, I'd check the voltages on everything first - can't hurt.

Alta Redshift EXR vs Zero FX (Decision Making)

In that case, definitely get the EXR. The Zero FX isn't an off-road bike as delivered.

Has anyone measured their bike weight?

That's similar to what I got (128 lbs / 49% front, 134 lbs / 51% rear, 1.7% scale error added to weights). My Zero and all my ICE bikes are in the 44-46% front / 56-54% rear range.

Rear hub spacers causing squeaky rear brake

I should've used that too - it looks perfect for the application. I just used the 262 threadlocker I had on hand, (fingers crossed). The bearing was tough to insert & is really in there now, I wouldn't want to be the one to remove it.

Rear hub spacers causing squeaky rear brake

Yeah Steve, I bet we do! I hate to throw something out I can't easily replace without at least trying to make it work.

+1 ! Budd's Creek was great, especially the 450's- made my day. :)

Rear hub spacers causing squeaky rear brake

The trails I ride on are pretty nasty for the most part, I wish they were smoother (and longer), but I can ride to them from my house so there's good and bad. My Zero has terrible bearings - at 5K miles I've now replaced all of them at least once, the wheel bearings 3x each (tiny 6904...

Rear hub spacers causing squeaky rear brake

Sounds like either the bearings or hub bearing pockets are toast ( I get about 2 years max on wheel bearings, riding trails). I imagine racing would be much harder on them though, especially jumps.

    Firmware update by owner

Zero certainly does, using a security dongle & interface cable. I've checked two of them out briefly over the tech's shoulder, one appeared to have a program open in a DOS window.

List of aftermarket products for the Alta

If yours are the same as my MXR, try using a 5/64" key socket, cover the peg with a small piece of aluminum tape, then push the socket's key down through it into the keyway. The heat mentioned and an impact gun might help.

    65° throttle

From the MX firmware page (all models have a similar entry): MX_1.5.1 (7/25/18) - support for additional 65-degree throttles Does anyone have any nuts-and-bolts info on this? Throttle curve and regen are the only user-unserviceable things I need fixed on my MXR, I'm hoping I can address at...

    Broken Rear Bulkhead.......

This is the way I've always tried to do things too, but the electric experience has forced me into 'plan B mode' so many times it's now become plan A. :) Just to get you back up for now... you could also do two of the JB Welded screw/studs I mentioned, using what's left of the lower threads for...

    Missing bushing?

It seems like the CS bolt holds the sleeve hard & flat against the frame boss, and the sleeve/pedal is a nice tight fit (on my bike anyway) which should make for pretty decent wear characteristics as long as there's some grease in there. I was little surprised there was no replaceable pedal...

    Broken Rear Bulkhead.......

It looks like the lower large Torx screw on the boot guard is still tight - is the broken-off piece still being held by it? If so, you could try JB Welding it back on and hoping for the best (I did something very similar on one of my vintage bikes; alignment was critical, but after the JB Weld...

    Flywheel mass (heavier)

I haven't done this to my MXR, but fwiw I've done the reverse to one of my ICE bikes. I replaced a 6.5 lb. external-rotor ignition with a 1.5 lb internal-rotor unit, then had the crank rebalanced (22 grams removed). It changed the throttle response from somewhat sluggish to real snappy, with...

    Chain Slider failures

Yes, way cool and much appreciated! If it were me, I'd increase the plastic thickness for the front wraparound section and the entire lower chain run, in addition to the added support shown. Apparently there's violent upwards chain slap against the bottom of the entire lower run, and casing a...

Throttle tube / ODI Lock-on grips?

They're made by a company called Hirschmann, Oded. I believe they also make the BMW throttles.

    2019 / 2020 wish list

Mine needed a few tweaks (better bolts & pin, foot end bent up) but now it lifts smooth & easy. Depending on where I put it under the Alta frame rails, I can lift either or both wheels.
